Admission Procedure for DU MBBS Course

NEET Scores:

Delhi University admission MBBS 2017 will be done on the basis of the candidates’ percentile scores in the NEET-UG exam. NEET refers to the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, which is an all-India undergraduate level exam for medical entrance.

Based on this single exam conducted by CBSE, students can take admission in various MBBS and BDS colleges across the country. Delhi University also accepts the scores of NEET to offer MBBS admissions. Thus, it is required that candidates appear in the NEET exam 2017 to be eligible to apply for MBBS admissions at DU.

Application for FMSC:

Apart from the above-mentioned NEET scores, candidates will have to submit a separate application towards Delhi University admission MBBS 2017. This application for FMSC admissions will offer candidates the probability of admission in the following medical colleges under FMSC:

  • Lady Hardinge Medical College or LHMC
  • University College of Medical Sciences or UCMS
  • Maulana Azad Medical College or MAMC
  • Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences or MAIDS

However, MBBS candidates will get admission in the first three colleges, as MAIDS only offers BDS courses. Candidates can apply for MBBS under the DU’s 85% quota in FMSC.

Final Admissions:

After the receipt of applications towards Delhi University admission MBBS 2017, FMSC screens all the applications and works up a merit list for candidates who become eligible for admission. There is also a waiting list announced for probable seat allocation. The merit list is declared for all candidate categories under the 85% DU Quota for MBBS admissions.

The merit list candidates then go for final admission counselling that is done in multiple rounds for the course and college allocation. Please note that DU only selects candidates for 85% seats, as the candidates for the rest 15% seats are directly chosen by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) based on NEET in accordance with the Hon’ble SCI (Supreme Court of India) directions.

How to Submit the MBBS Application at FMSC

  • As there is no online application submission option for DU MBBS admissions, candidates will need to fill in and submit an offline form.
  • The MBBS application forms will be available after June 8, 2017, at the office of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMSC) located on 6th floor, V.P. Chest Institute Building, University of Delhi, Delhi - 110007.Candidates can collect the MBBS application form by hand from the office of FMSC on all working days.
  • An alternative mode is to download the Delhi University admission MBBS 2017application form that is also available on the official website of FMSC. However, the form must be submitted in hard copy at the office of FMSC.
  • The application form must be filled in clearly and accurately per the given instructions in the form. Candidates must also pay the below-mentioned application fee via a banker’s cheque or demand draft issued by any nationalised bank.

In addition, candidates must attach the self-attested photocopies of the following documents with their application forms towards Delhi University admission MBBS 2017:

  • Class 10th certificate or an equivalent certificate displaying date of birth
  • Class 12th passing certificate + mark sheet
  • NEET 2017 exam roll number/admit card + scorecard
  • Certificate from the school principal on the prescribed proforma
  • Latest character certificate from the principal of the school last attended or from a gazetted officer
  • SC/ST certificate, if applicable (two copies)
  • Father’s SC/ST certificate
  • PWD certificate, if applicable (two copies)
  • Entitlement certificate for CW category, if applicable (two copies)
  • OBC certificate, if applicable (two copies)

Who is Eligible to Apply for DU MBBS Course?

A candidate meeting the following requirements can apply for Delhi University admission MBBS 2017:

  • At least 17 years of age (and not more than 25 years of age) by December 31 in the year of commencement of the prescribed academic session (maximum age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
  • Passed class 12th (10+2) exam by CBSE/Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination/Jamia Milia Islamia (except Open School and Patrachar Vidyalaya) or, an equivalent exam with the required subjects of English (core), Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
  • Done classes 11th and 12th from a recognised school (conducting regular classes) located in NCT of Delhi only
  • Secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of PCB subjects (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC)
