MRIU Hosts a Workshop on 'Science Communication through Visual Media'

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, MRIU hosted a workshop on October 17, 2016.

A knowledge-enriching workshop was successfully hosted by Manav Rachna Internal University recently. The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, MRIU organized this workshop in association with Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India on October 17, 2016.
 
The workshop was revolved around the theme 'Science Communication through Visual Media', which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. N.C.Wadhwa by lighting the lamp.
 
 
 
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor advised the students to be more careful and vigilant while covering or making a film on scientific issues. Prof. Neemo Dhar, Dean, FMeH, said that this kind of workshops will certainly help the students to understand the film making techniques.
 
 
 
 
During the workshop, 50 students of Media Stduies went through a training session. Two resource persons were associated with the workshop, namely, Mr. Nimish Kapoor, Scientist 'E' and Head, Science Films 'Division', Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India; and Mr. Kulbhushan, Sr. Director (Retd), Doordarshan, Prasar Bharati.
 
 
 
Both the resource persons elaborated on the nuances of camera techniques, script writing, idea hunting, and research for film etc. Importance of lighting in capturing best possible images was also explained. The students were given exercises for idea formulation and story board.
 
The workshop came to an end by expressing the vote of thanks by Dr. Suresh Chandra Nayak, Associate Professor & HoD and co-ordinated by Dr. Anshu Arora.
