Mumbai University has withheld degrees of the students, as their colleges have not completed the enrolment process since 2012. Here is the scoop!
Approximately 3000 students have their degrees withheld by the Mumbai University only because their respective colleges have not completed the enrollment process since 2012. The university has announced an ultimatum to the colleges to complete their enrolment procedures by December 31, 2016. Any college failing to comply with this ultimatum of enrolling its student may not be granted degrees on completion of the course.
The university’s eligibility, enrollment and migration department recently issued a circular stating that all the colleges listed under Mumbai University must complete their enrollment process under the stipulated timeline. In addition to this, it also stated that the university has not received documents provided at the time of admission by around 3000 students pursuing different courses in various colleges. The maximum numbers of such cases are of the students studying commerce.
It is the responsibility of the colleges to keep a record of the student’s documents and credibility. However, colleges in Mumbai University have failed to keep up with this and have received a circular to check the eligibility of the students at the time of the admission along with checking relevant documents. Until the time these colleges do not complete the enrolment process, students will not get roll numbers required to appear for the exams. They will not be granted migration certificate required for pursuing higher studies in future.
This circular issued by the university will not only make the process faster, but also ensure that all the colleges are under constant scrutiny and that they cannot afford to bluff around for long. This will help them admit deserving students who are eligible and enrolled in the right way.
