National Seminar on Vedic Chronology: A Reassessment at University of Delhi

Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi is organising a National Seminar on ‘Vedic Chronology: A Reassessment’ from September 26-28, 2015


The Department of Sanskrit of University of Delhi in association with Maharishi Sandipani Veda Vidya Pratisthan (under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India), Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) is conducting a three day National Seminar on ‘Vedic Chronology: A Reassessment’ from September 26, 2015 to September 28, 2015, which will be convened at Room No. 22-The Seminar Hall, Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi.

The Seminar intends to investigate the dating of the Vedas from each of these viewpoints. The aim is also to critically synthesise and consolidate the findings of all these branches fo knowledge to arrive at a dating of the Vedas. 


The sub themes of the Seminar are as under:

Chronology of Vedic Literature (Samhita, Brahmanasahitya, Aranyakasahitya, Upanishads and Vedangas):

  1. On the basis of the nature of the text, textual narratives and mythology.
  2. Comparative study of the Linguistic stylistics and techniques used in them.
  3. Comparative study of the Sociological, Anthropological, Archaeological and Astronomical events, other facts stated in them.
  4. Review of the findings of the research so far in this regard.

The teachers and scholars, who are interested to present the research paper in the seminar, may send the title and abstracts (Walkman Chanakya-905/Krutidev-10/Unicode font) for Research Paper in Sanskrit (Font Size-14) and Times New Roman for Research Paper in English (Font Size-12) to the Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi through email at or by September 30, 2015.
