Only 22,970 out of 60, 425 students from Gujarat qualified in the NEET 2017 for admission to UG medical and dental courses this year.
As per the NEET 2017 rank list submitted by the Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses (ACPMEC) on Thursday for students from Gujarat who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017, only 38% students qualified NEET this year. Notably, 60, 425 students from Gujarat were appeared for NEET 2017, out of which only 22,970 qualified for UG medical and dental courses.
A body of parents, on Thursday morning, approached the NEET exam committee to update the list of NEET scores and the all India rank of students from Gujarat on the official website of NEET 2017. The exam committee responded quickly and updated the list by Thursday evening. Notably, the same is already listed on the website for students from Punjab, Karnataka and Telangana among other states.
As many as 11,658 open category students qualified in the NEET 2017 followed by 7,998 students from Other Backwards Castes (OBC) category, 1,869 students from Schedule Castes (SC) and 1,445 students from Scheduled Tribes (ST). The examination was conducted for over 6,000 seats in medical allied and 3,630 seats in medical colleges in Gujarat State.
The roll number, NEET score, category and percentile rank are all included in the rank list. According to the reports, the student who scored the highest score in Gujarat obtained 681 out of 720 with an all-India rank of 23. Furthermore, another student scored 680 and ranked second in the list followed by students with 671, 670 and 668 marks respectively.
The minimum eligibility score to qualify NEET 2017 is 131 out of 720 for general category students and 107 out of 720 for students belonging to the reserved categories.
