AIPMT 2016, now known as NEET Phase 1, exam is successfully completed on May 1, 2016. Over 6 lakh candidates appeared in the test.
Amid the kinks and hiccups that replacement of AIPMT 2016 with NEET Phase 1 caused, the attendance at the entrance test was massive as expected. NEET 2016 Phase 1 was conducted successfully on May 1, 2016 at 10AM at 1040 examination centres across 52 cities in India and beyond borders.
As per the confirmation from the official, approximately 6, 67,657 candidates have successfully registered for AIPMT 2016. Roughly, the entrance test was conducted to fill in around 2,300 MMBS and 300 BDS seats in more than 200 medical and dental colleges across India.
CBSE replaced AIPMT 2016 with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Phase 1 on 28th of April this year following a Supreme Court (SC) directive, which was about scrapping all medical entrance tests at the state level. As per the SC guidelines, AIPMT 2016 test that was held on May 1, 2016 shall be Phase 1 of NEET, whereas the Phase 2 of the NEET will be held for all the left out candidates on July 24th, 2016 after inviting relevant applications with the fee.
The result for both the tests will be announced collectively on August 17, 2016, with CBSE providing all India rank. Once the merit list is out, the authorities will invite applications for counselling.
