PM Modi Inaugurates New IIT Patna Campus on July 25, 2015

IIT Patna got a permanent campus at Bihta, July 25, 2015 onwards.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new IIT Patna Campus at Bihta on July 25, 2015. The campus at Bihta is spread over 500 acres and is 50 km away from the current campus at Patliputra.

The shifting is being done in phases, as told to HT by registrar of IIT-Patna, Subhash Pandey. The new academic session is scheduled to start from July 22, 2015. The registration process and the induction of the new students would be done at the new campus on July 22 itself. The classes were scheduled to commence from July 25, 2015 but since the inauguration is scheduled for July 25, the classes will now begin from July 26.

The inauguration was initially scheduled for June 29, 2015 but it got pushed to July 25 as the campus was not fully ready.

Presently IIT Patna has about 970 students and 75-80 faculty members. The institute has a student intake of 200 students for undergraduate programme (B.Tech courses) in five disciplines.
