Students and faculty come together to tackle Ragging issue
A 'Seminar cum Ragging Elimination Campaign' is being organized on 16th September 2015 at 10:30am at the Pragjyotish Cultural Complex, Machkhowa, Guwahati with active participation of all the state technical institutions of Assam including Assam Engineering College.
The agenda in hand has the Supreme Court of India, University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Human Rights Commissions and the public as its stakeholders.
No classes will be conducted on the day and have been suspended. It is however, important that the students participate in the event mandatorily and the attendance of the participating students will be recorded and proficiency certificates will also be issued to them. Unauthorized absence of students will also be reflected in their pass certificate in the appropriate manner. Students will also be accompanied by the faculty members and the employees of the college.
Ragging is an important issue which needs to be dealt with carefully and sensitively. It is necessary that the students are made aware of its impact and repercussions.
