SBI PO 2017: A Complete Guide

SBI PO 2017 is a national-level bank recruitment examination, conducted by the State Bank of India to recruit Probationary Officers (PO) for various branches across the country. Considered as the most popular bank recruitment exam in India, SBI PO is taken by thousands of aspirants.

The registrations for the upcoming SBI PO have begun and will conclude on March 6, 2017. The prelims will take place on April 29th and 30th and May 6th and 7th, 2017. The mains exam will take place on June 4th, 2017.

SBI PO examination is conducted online in two phases – preliminary exam and the main exam. Only candidates who make it through the preliminary exam will be eligible to appear for the mains. The preliminary exam will comprise of 100 multiple-choice questions while the main examination will comprise of objective as well as descriptive questions. 

SBI PO 2017 Application Forms:

SBI PO registrations have begun from Februrary 7th, 2017 onwards and will conclude on March 6th, 2017. Aspiring candidates can fill-in the registration forms online by visiting the official web portal of SBI PO 2017. The registration process will require candidates to enter the desired details and pay the registration fee to get themselves registered.

All candidates should note that the application forms for SBI PO will not be available offline or on any portal other than SBI PO. Aspiring candidates should ensure to fill-in the online registration forms before the registration concludes on March 6th, 2017.

SBI PO 2017 Registration Fee:

As the part of SBI PO 2017 registration process, aspiring candidates will have to pay the registration fee which is INR 100 for SC, ST and PWD category candidates and INR 600 for candidates belonging to the other categories. Debit cards/ credit cards/ net banking can be used to pay the registration free online.

SBI PO 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

Aspiring candidates of SBI PO 2017 should hold bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a government recognized university or institution. They should be aged between 21 to 30 years. Candidates who are in the final year/semester of their degree programme, who are yet to give their examination, can also apply for the examination. To be able to appear for SBI PO 2017 mains, all candidates will have to clear the preliminary examination.

SBI PO 2017 Exam Pattern:

SBI PO examination will be conducted in two parts. The preliminary examination will be held first and will consist of 100 multiple-type questions. The exam will be of 60 minutes duration and will be divided into three sections - English Language, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude.  

The main examination will be a mix of objective and subjective/ descriptive questions. The examination will be of 250 marks and will test a candidate’s vocabulary, grammar and command over the English language.

SBI PO 2017 Syllabus:

Candidates appearing for SBI PO should prepare for questions on Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English language, Writing Skills, etc. Reasoning Ability section may comprise of topics that includes Puzzles, Syllogism, Statement & Arguments, Blood Relation, etc. Quantitative Aptitude section will ask questions on Mensuration, Number System, Time & Distance, Ratio & Proportion, etc. while English Language will test the candidate’s language skills and vocabulary by asking questions on topics including Synonyms, Unseen passage, Para Jumbles, Spotting Errors, Antonyms, Fill in the Blanks, Reading Comprehension, etc. Descriptive section may have questions on Paragraph Writing, Letter Writing, Essay Writing, Reading Comprehension, etc.

SBI PO 2017 Call Letters:

The call letters for SBI PO 2017 prelims and mains will be required for each candidate to enter the exam venue. The call letters for prelims exam will be made available to candidates on 15th April, 2017. On the other hand, candidates will be able to download their call letters for main examfrom 22nd May, 2017 onwards. The call letters will be available on the official website of SBI for downloads. The call letters will contain details on candidate’s name, roll number, exam venue, exam time, exam date, etc.

SBI PO 2017 Results:

The results for SBI PO 2017 will be available for download to candidates on the official website of SBI. Candidates will have to enter the required details to be able to view their results. The results for SBI PO 2017 prelims will be declared on 17th May 2017 while the results for SBI PO mains will be available on 19th June 2017.
