• Tata Steel Women-of-Mettle Scholarship Programme:

Tata Steel offers this scholarship to groom and promote girl students to work in the manufacturing sector that further encourages gender diversity in this industry. These scholarships in India are available to second-year girl students from chosen 45+Indian engineering colleges. After an initial screening, students have to take up a technical challenge whose top 10 winners receive a scholarship of INR 1 lakh each during the 3rd/4th year of their courses. Students additionally get a paid internship under senior leaders of the company, sponsorships for participating in technical conferences and company initiatives, and a pre-placement job offer.

• Central Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students:

These scholarships in India are awarded by the Government of India to offer financial support to brilliant students. To be eligible, students should be above 80 percentile of successful candidates of class 12 in an academic stream for a specific examination board. Their joint family income should be less than 6 LPA. There are 82,000 scholarships available equally for boys and girls who want to pursue graduate, postgraduate, and professional courses in recognised colleges/universities. The scholarship amount is INR 1,000/month at graduation level and INR 2,000/month at post-graduation level. Professional course students get INR 2,000/month during their 4th and 5th years of study.

• UGC Scholarships, Fellowships and Research Awards:

University Grants Commission or UGC offers a wide range of awards, fellowships, and scholarships in India. While these include post-doctoral fellowships for SC/ST or OBC candidates, these also include the same for students with disabilities, minority students, and women candidates. Additionally, some scholarships are awarded to pursue higher education and research in foreign nations. There are many junior research fellowships available in all streams of education. • I am the change Scholarship:

Team Everest NGO provides this scholarship to 100 students for pursuing graduate studies. To be eligible, students should have scored more than 70% marks in 10+2 exam, be living and studying in Chennai colleges, and have the family income less than INR 2 lakhs. The scholarship of INR 35,000/year is available for students who are parentless, have a single parent, or are affected by Chennai floods.

• Young Indian Scientists RACIRI Summer Schools Scholarships:

RACIRI Summer Schools are organised jointly by DESY in Germany, Swedish Research Council in Sweden, and Kurchatov Institute in the Russian Federation. With full lodging, accommodation and meals, the programme aims at strengthening the scientific research base of young scholars at Master’s diploma, PhD, or Post-PhD levels. Young scientists in materials science can apply at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) to avail these scholarships in India.

• NEST – Junior Scholarship Test:

Current students of class 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th science can apply for several scholarships worth INR 25,000 to INR 50,000 each. The meritorious students based on an online test are eligible for scholarships.

• Scholarships (Trust Fund) and National Fund:

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India offers 2,500 scholarships to support differently-abled students across India. This scheme reserves 30% of the scholarships for girls. The scheme aims at providing financial assistance so that students can pursue professional and technical courses from recognised institutions and get employed.

• Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir:

This scheme is also run by the Government of India to support meritorious 12th-pass students in the state of J&K for pursuing general and professional degree courses outside their state. Around 5,000 scholarships are awarded per year to cover the tuition fees, hostel fees, books and other miscellaneous costs of students.

• National Overseas Scholarship:

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India offers 100 national overseas scholarships in India and provides 5 passage grants to eligible candidates who belong to the special categories, including scheduled castes; de-notified, nomadic, and semi-nomadic tribes; and landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisans. The fields of Master’s or doctoral study covered under this scholarship are engineering and management, pure sciences and applied sciences, agricultural sciences and medicine, international commerce, accounting, finance, humanities, social sciences, and fine arts. The scholarship covers the course fees and other educational expenses of students.
