Seminar was a great opportunity to discuss and explore challenges and opportunities in the development of solar energy
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Jamia Millia Islamia has produced innumerable number of efficient and dexterous engineers. And yet again, the department has proved to be the most versatile in its field by hosting a National Seminar on Solar Robotics on 9th and 10th of October, this year.
The agenda of the seminar was to explore the challenges and opportunities for the development of solar energy as a competitive energy source. It was an initiative taken by the department to introduce the concept of solar energy and its use to develop India: a buzzing topic often emphasized by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi. The seminar proved to be insightful that bolstered many aspiring engineers to pursue research in the pulsating field of robotics.
The seminar started with the inaugural session graced by the Chief Guest Prof. S Maji, Principal G B Pant Engineering College. Prof. Mohd. Islam, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia gave a hearty speech to the audience. It was then followed by the welcoming speech of Prof. Mohd. Suhaib, Coordinator of the National Seminar of Solar Robotics. That was something worth applauding for. Following this was the lecture of the first keynote speaker, Prof. Sudipto Mukherjee from IIT Delhi. His awe-inspiring lecture exalted the spirits of the participants who came from various colleges for paper presentations.
With this started the perky yet enlightening paper presentation of esteemed students of interdisciplinary courses who were either graduates or post-graduates. The participants were mostly from IIT Delhi, G B University Greater Noida, Integral University Lucknow, IMT Nagpur & Jamia Millia Islamia. The judges of the paper presentation were Dr. Arvindam Kumar Chanda, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering from GB Pant Engineering College and Prof. Arshad Noor Siddique from Jamia Millia Islamia. The hall was brimming with new ideas and colloquies of merits and demerits ready to be worked upon. The first session of the seminar loaded with innovations and pros and cons to ponder upon ended on a satisfactory note.

His insightful lecture on nanotechnology was worth praising for. It was very informative in itself. Nanotechnology being a budding field of research seemed to attract a lot many research aspirants to take it in for future. It was then followed by an ending speech by Dr. Sabah Khan, Committee Member of the seminar and from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia.
The second day of the seminar started with the session SB that was the paper presentation session followed by the high tea. The paper presentation session was yet again a captivating one for the audience. The SB session was judged by two esteemed professors of Jamia Millia Islamia. They were Prof. Anwar Shahzad Siddique from Department of Electrical Engineering and Dr. Aas Mohammad from Department of Mechanical Engineering. They seemed to spur the spirits of the participants and also encouraged the query session. It was a colloquy worth being a part of. After the session and the high tea was the poster presentation session judged by Prof. Tabrez Khan, Head of Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia and Prof. Zeeshan Khan, Associate Professor from Applied Science Department, Jamia Millia Islamia. They both seemed to love the presentation and it seemed very difficult for them to choose the best.
Following this was the SC paper presentation judged by Dr. Ahteshamul Haque from Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia and Dr. Ajay Singholi, from Department of Mechanical Engineering, GB Pant Engineering College. After this was the invited talk of Mr. Satvinder Singh, General Manager of NSIC Tech Service Centre. His enlightening talk was enough to fill the hall with the sound of applaud.
With all this done, was the much awaited valedictory session. The winner of the paper presentation was Mr. Bhivraj, M.Tech student from the prestigious IIT Delhi.
