SRM University conducts its 12th Convocation, presents Bachelor's degree to 6600 students and Honorary Doctorates to Saina Nehwal and Dr. A.R. Lakshmanan.

SRM University holds 12th Convocation

SRM University winds up its 12th Convocation with 6600 students receiving their Bachelor Degrees. The former Chief of Protocol and Assistant Secretary of State in the Jimmy Carter administration, Ambassador Evan Samuel Dobelle, was the Chief Guest of the event and he called on the graduating class of SRM University. Bachelor's degree was presented to students graduating in the field of Architecture, Engineering & Technology, Health Sciences & Medical, Design and Management.

Over 190 students were presented with the certificate of merit for the exceptional work done by them in their respective disciplines. Ambassador Dobelle greeted the gathering and lifted the motivation level of all the students present at the event with his kind words. He called on the graduates to love & protect the democracy and help the democracy to grow economically.

One of the high points of the event was the conferment Honorary Doctorates to ace shuttle badminton player, Saina Nehwal and former Judge of Supreme Court of India, Justice Dr A.R. Lakshmanan. Both Saina and Dr. Lakshmanan were presented with Doctor of Literature (D. Litt) degree.

After the presentation of the Honorary Degree, both the special guests gave their acceptance speech. Dr. A. R. Lakshmanan motivated the young minds to think innovatively for a better future and Ms. Nehwal recalled how she never wanted to be a sports person when she was young and how thing changed for her.
