TANCET 2017: All You Need To Know

TANCET 2017 or Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is a state level entrance examination conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The exam is conducted to screen students for admissions to various University Departments, Government & Government-aided colleges, self-financing institutes and university colleges across the state of Tamil Nadu.

TANCET exam is conducted to admit students to Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Architecture (M.Arch), Master of Engineering (ME), Master of Planning (M.Plan) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) courses offered at various colleges in Tamil Nadu.

TANCET 2017 examination is going to be held on 25th and 26th March 2017. The registrations for TANCET exam have begun and candidates can now apply online through the official webite. 

TANCET examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, carrying one mark each, which candidates need to answer within 2 hours. The question paper will be divided into different sections relating to the discipline. Negative marking will also be done for giving wrong answers in TANCET exam.

TANCET 2017 Application Forms:

The application forms are availabele on the official website. Aspiring candidates will be able to fill-in the application forms online after registering themselves on the official web portal of TANCET 2017. They will be required to enter the desired details and pay the application fee to register themselves successfully for the exam. 

However, all candidates must note that registrations for TANCET will be done online only. The online registrations will conclude on 28th February 2017.

TANCET 2017 Application Fee:

The application procedure for TANCET 2017 will be considered complete only after candidates pay their application fee. Candidates belonging to general category need to pay application fee of INR 500 while candidates belonging to SC/ST/STA categories INR 250. The application fee can be paid online only using credit card, debit card or net banking.

TANCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

All candidates applying for TANCET 2017 examination should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from any university recognised by Government of India.  Candidates applying through general category should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate while candidates belonging to reserved categories should have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate. MCA candidates can also apply for lateral entry to the course. Candidates applying for engineering courses should be a graduate in their area of specialisation.

TANCET 2017 Exam Pattern:

TANCET 2017 examination is expected to be conducted broadly for three different area of study – Management, Computer Application and Engineering. Therefore, three separate question paper will be made for candidates appearing for MBA, MCA and engineering courses i.e. M.Tech, M.Plan, M.E. and M.Arch. MBA and MCA paper will have four sections while engineering question paper will be divided into 3 sections.

The question paper will consist of 100 multiple choice questions carrying one mark each. Students will have to answer these questions within 2 hours. One-third will also be deducted for every wrong answer given by the candidate.

TANCET 2017 Syllabus:

TANCET 2017 syllabus for candidates appearing for MBA and MCA courses will involve questions from four different sections. Verbal Ability questions will test the candidate’s grammar, vocabulary and language skills. Questions on Quantitative Aptitude will be based on topics like Algebra, Trigonometry, Probability, and other topics of mathematics. Data Interpretation section will have questions based on bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, etc. Topics like Coding-Decoding, Syllogism, Series, etc will be covered under Analytical or Logical Reasoning section. Candidate’s knowledge on computers and the internet will be tested in the Computer Awareness section.

Engineering candidates will be asked questions in three different parts. Part I will consist of questions on Engineering Mathematics, Part II will comprise of Basic Engineering & Services and Part III will contain questions on the candidate’s area of specialisation.

TANCET 2017 Admit Card:

The admit cards for TANCET 2017 exam will be made available to candidates by the first week of March 2017. Applicants will be able to download their admit cards from the official web portal of TANCET exam after entering the desired information. The admit card will contain details on exam date, exam venue and exam time apart from candidate’s name, roll number, etc.

Applicants are advised to carry their admit card without fail to the examination venue on the day of the TANCET examination. Candidates without an admit card will not be allowed to appear for the examination at all.

TANCET 2017 Results:

The results of TANCET 2017 examination have been announced on April 11, 2017. Candidates who appeared for the exam can now view their results on the official web portal of TANCET after entering the desired information in the respective column. The university will prepare a merit list based on marks students obtain.

Steps to check TANCET 2017 results:

  • Go to the official website of TANCET 2017 or simply copy and paste this 'https://www.annauniv.edu/' link in your browser window 
  • Click on the results link and reach the login page
  • Enter the required details like registration number and password in the respective boxes
  • Click on submit button to download the result.

All candidates are advised to take a printout of their score card for future admission references. TANCET 2017 results are evaluated based on the total number of correct and incorrect answers along with the score.

TANCET 2017 Counselling:

After the TANCET results have been declared, the counselling procedure for the exam will begin. The counselling schedule will be announced by Anna University on its official website and is expected to start by the end of April 2017. Applicants who clear the examination will be required to appear for the counselling as per the schedule.
