The 23rd edition of TAPMI BrandScan had been organized on October 24 at Kundapura & October 25, 2015 at Manipal. The Bangalore event is being organized on November 14 & 15, 2015.
TAPMI’s BrandScan is a unique annual Market Research fair conducted by the students of TAPMI, under the guidance of its expert faculty, with the active support of industry professionals. For the last 22 years, Brand Scan had been TAPMI’s platform to establish very live and active industry-institute working relations. It provides the professional platform to do research on live projects from companies, by collecting data from customers, analyzing and interpreting them and thus provide insights to their products and brands. The uniqueness of Brand Scan is that it elicits unbiased and natural responses of customers, through innovative and vibrant data collection methods.
BrandScan over the years has done study and research through this way, for companies from industries including Consumer durables, FMCG, Banking and financial services, Advertising & Media, Hotel and hospital services, Lifestyle products etc. Some of the reputed list of clients include Hindustan Unilever, Apple, Titan, Citibank, Airtel, Reebok, Samsung, Cadbury’s, Nestle, ICICI, Amul, FlipKart, Fastrack, P&G, Lakme, TVS motor bikes, MRF, India Today, Zee TV. BrandScan organizes this type of research and study in 3 formats - Rural, Semi-Urban and Metro settings. Each year about 20 projects from these companies are taken up for study and research through these formats, conducted at Manipal, Bangalore, and Kundapur during the moths of October/ November. In all the formats, the event is laid out in the form a fair with games, fun and frolic for the visitors. It is organized as a fun fair extravaganza by having competitions for children, and with events like music bands, dance performances and fashion shows.
The method of study and research followed in this fair format is very rigorous. The key effort is to mobilize the crowd from the catchment areas, to participate in this fair. These visitors who may be e present and potential customers of various products, engage and participate in games and events. Their responses, preferences and behavior towards various situations and products are elicited. These data are further analyzed and conclusions deducted using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
A dedicated project team of students of TAPMI, are assigned for each research project. These teams work in tandem with the client requirements, with the guidance of TAPMI faculty. Each company would have given their requirements to the project team, in terms of problems and issues they are facing about their products. Based on this are planned, Focused Group Discussions, Interviews, games, data analysis methods etc. This is a great opportunity for students to work on a live project as a team, with a goal and displaying high standards of processes and output. Brand Scan partners with a leading data analytics and market research firm from Bangalore, to ensure the quality of data analysis and thus the quality of research report output. The important contributions of Brand Scan through the research report output, would be the insights to help companies to understand the choices customers make of their product, and thus help them to effect changes in their products and brands.
