IIHMR University, in cooperation with the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA offers a degree in Master of Public Health (MPH) for the first time ever in India. Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) University, in cooperation with the John’s Hopkins Bloomberg School, Baltimore, USA also commenced its third batch of the Master of Public Health Program on 8th October, 2015. The Inauguration was done by the Chief Guest Dr. Vimal Sharma, Prof of International Health Development, University of Chaster. Dr. S D Gupta, President, IIHMR University, Dr. Suresh Joshi, Professor, IIHMR University and Dr. Ashok Koushik, Dean – Academic and Students Affaire were present at the event.

The students in the 3rd cohort of MPH program would travel to John’s Hopkins University Campus at Baltimore, USA for a period of 2 weeks training in the beginning 1st January 2016. The three-fourth of terms will be taught in India, and one term (Intensive Institute) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA.. The collaboration between the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) and IIHMR will enable the students to benefit from Johns Hopkins’ track record of excellence in teaching public health and IIHMR’s expertise in health management.
The Master of Public Health degree program is designed to focus on public health capacity building in developing countries, Cultivate students’ health management skills so that they will be prepared to enhance the effectiveness & efficiency of public health programs & services. The pedagogy in each course is selected judiciously, with an emphasis on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to authentic public health management.
The student selection process is globally acclaimed following stringent international standards. The application process is a two-step process. As a first step, the candidates have to complete a preliminary screening at IIHMR. Second step includes submission of application online on the Johns Hopkins web portal. The student also gets an opportunity to receive travel and boarding scholarship for the course in Baltimore campus after getting admitted to the course.
The MPH degree will be awarded by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and will have same and equal credentials as that in the USA.

- Bachelor’s degree with a background in Mathematics and Biology
- Valid GRE, MCAT, GMAT, or LSAT score. (Scores are waived off for applicants who possess a degree beyond the baccalaureate level or M.B.B.S, provided they have the requisite quantitative skills)
- A minimum of two years of full-time health-related work experience is desirable for candidates who do not have a medical degree
