TISSNET 2018 - Tata Institute of Social Science conducted the TISS entrance exam on January 6, 2018. The Institute has announced the result of TISS National Eligibility Test 2018 on January 27. The candidates who appeared for TISSNET this year can now check their result on the official website of the Institute or can access the link given below. Based on the score of this exam, a merit list was prepared and all the candidates making it to the merit list and meeting the cutoff have qualified for the further round of admission. All these short-listed candidates will now be required to appear for Pre-Interview Test (PIT) and Personal Interview (PI), which will be conducted in various cities from February 27 to March 29, 2018.

The final result-cum-selection list for admission to MA in HRM and LR at TISS is likely to be annouced on April 27, 2018. Tata institute of Social Science is among the most prestigious and famous management colleges of India. The institute is considered to be among the finest when it comes to quality education. TISS mainly puts focus on economics, social sciences, public policy and human development. At present, Tata Institute of Social Science has 5 campuses which are listed below:

The exam is conducted for admission to several MA programs which include MA in Labour Relations and MA in Human Resource Management (LR & HRM). TISSNET 2018 was a computer based examination, conducted at 39 test centres across the country. It was an objective type examination. There were three different sections in the exam namely – general awareness, maths & logical reasoning and English proficiency. Candidates will be granted admission to TISS on the basis of their result of TISSNET 2018, pre – interview test and personal interview rounds.

TISSNET 2018 Result

Tata institute of Social Sciences has declared the result of TISSNET 2018 on 27 January 2018. The result is available online, of the official website of TISS. The candidates are required to use their registered email ID and password to access the result. Candidates quaifying this entrance test will have to appear for PIT/PI after submitting a proper application form. The second round of selection will be held in various cities and the schedule of the same has been provided in the table above. 

Based on the performance of the candidates in TISSNET, PIT and PI, they will be finally selected for admission. The final result of TISS admission will be announced on 27 April 2018.

TISSNET 2018 Selection Procedure

We can divide entire TISSNET selection process into two phases. The first phase included TISSNET 2018 exam and the second phase included the PIT and PI. The weightage of marks awarded to various factors of assessment are listed in the table below:

TISSNET merit list 2018 will be released as a PDF format. All the five campuses of Tata Institute of Social Sciences will have their own TISSNET merit list. The list will contain the name of the candidates and their names. These will the shortlisted candidates who are going to be called for next round of TISSNET admission process. There will be multiple wait lists released by TISS. The wait list TISSNET 2018 will contain the name of the candidates who have cleared the exam. They will be called for admission in case if there are seats vacant for the college. It won’t be in a PDF format, the candidates will have to download it, with the help of their registered login details. 

TISSNET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of TISSNET 2018 to ensure that they satisfy all the eligibility norms of TISSNET 2018 to avoid any problem in future. If any candidate fails to qualify the eligibility criteria, s/he will be disqualified from for TISSNET. Hence, it becomes very important to understand the eligibility guidelines of TISSNET 2018. Read the following points to understand the eligibility criteria of TISSNET 2018:

  • The candidate is required to have a bachelor’s degree which has been earned in duration of three years minimum.
  • The three years bachelor’s degree should be granted by a recognized institution/university.
  • The candidate is required to have passed all the semesters throughout the duration of three years bachelor program.
  • The bachelor’s degree duration should end by 10th June, 2018.

Candidates who are studying in the final year of their bachelor’s program but haven’t passed in all the courses including subsidiary, major or minor etc. of first and second year of their program in case the duration of the program is three years and first, second and third years in case the duration of the course is four years, on the day of applying for programs, will not be considered eligible for applying to any of the masters programs offered by Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

If any candidate has been declared failed in the final year examination of the bachelor’s degree, s/he will not be considered eligible for applying to the institute for admission in master’s program. The candidate is required to have passed the three years bachelor’s program on the day of application.

All the information given by the candidate for the purpose of eligibility qualification shall be considered the final and the same shall be accessed for the purpose of test, interview and selection processes. In case, if it is found that the information given by the candidate is false/fake/incorrect at any stage, s/he will be disqualified leading to cancellation of his/her candidature.

There are two modes of submitting TISSNET application fee 2018. Candidates can opt for online mode of payment or they can use offline mode of payment. For offline mode, the candidates are required to submit TISSNET application fee via a demand draft. Candidates can use their debit or credit card for online payment. In case of offline mode, candidates can pay the cash at State Bank of India branches.


If any candidate lives in remote area where there is less or no internet connectivity, s/he should submit TISSNET application form in offline mode.

TISSNET 2018 is an objective type question. This exam will contain 100 marks in total and the duration will be 100 minutes. The main highlights are listed below:

If we talk about the section wise distribution of the total question asked in the exam, the pattern will be as mentioned below:

  • General Awareness –                   40 Questions
  • Maths and Logical Reasoning –   30 Questions
  • English Proficiency –                    30 Questions

For every correct answer, the candidates will be given 1 mark. There is a provision of opting a scribe for visually impaired candidates. The scribe is required to be an undergraduate and they are required to carry their original IDs as proof. A person with 40% or more disability will be given 20 minutes extra.

For preparation of TISSNET general awareness section, the candidates are required to stay updated with news and current event, along with knowledge of topics mentioned above. A regular reading of newspapers and magazines will be a great help. For reading comprehension, the candidate needs to focus on his reading and grammar skills. Reading newspapers and magazines which are to be read for GA section will also help the candidates to have a knowledge of both English and general awareness.

TISSNET 2018 Admit Card

The admit card of TISSNET 2018 was released on 21 December 2017. It was available in the student login of all those candidates who submitted their application form before the due date. Candidates were required to download it online and carry its print out to the test centre on the day of the exam. Without furnishing the hall ticket, no candidate was allowed to sit for the exam. TISSNET 2018 admit card provided several important details such as personal details of the candidate, details related to the exam schedule and venue etc.
