UCEED 2018 - Dates, Application Form, Eligibility

Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design 2018 (UCEED 2018) is an entrance exam for B.Des. course that was conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay under UCEED Admissions Committee 2018. The UCEED 2018 exam was conducted on January 20 and its UCEED 2018 answer keys are coming on January 27. Candidates who aspire to take admission in the Bachelor Degree programme in Design (B. Des) at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) and Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur (IIITDMJ) need to fill the application form that will be released in October 2017 to appear for UCEED exam 2018. Candidates need to keep an eye on the official website of UCEED to get updated information about the exam like the application dates, fee payment, admit card, results etc. 

The UCEED 2018 score will be valid only for the admission to the academic year 2018-19 and the exam will be held in various centers across the country. After the declaration of UCEED result 2018, a merit list of the candidates who qualify for the next round of admission will be prepared. UCEED 2018 is open to all nationals who want to pursue graduation in designing. UCEED 2018 will be a computer based entrance examination where candidates will get 3 hours to solve the questions.

UCEED 2018 Result

The exam conducting body has announced the result for UCEED 2018 exam on February 21, 2018, keeping its norm to announce result one month after the exam alive. The UCEED 2018 Exam was conducted on January 20, 2018 this year. Candidates who want to check their UCEED 2018 result can follow the simple but quick steps mentioned hereunder to do it in the most hassle-free and easiest way possible. 

  • Candidates need to first reach out to the official website. For this purpose, they can consider clicking on the link provided here http://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/.
  • When there, candidates need to click on the Results tab
  • Once the login window opens, they need to sign in using username and password  generated during the application process
  • Scorecard of qualified candidates will be available for download from the last week of February 2018.
  • Hardcopy of the scorecard will not be sent to any candidate
  • Qualification in the UCEED 2018 entrance examination does not guarantee admission.
  • Candidates are advised to download, save and take a printout of the scorecard for the future reference. 

UCEED 2018 Rank List Preparation

  • Rank list will be prepared on the basis of the scores of all the qualified candidates
  • Only one rank list will  be made, there will be no category wise Tiebreaker
  • Tiebreaker policy will be available in cases where two or more candidates will have the same total marks.

There were 11567 students who appeared for the exam out of which 6219 have qualified the exam. Pune's Saumya Divya Oberoi obtained the first rank with 244 score, Ghaziabad's Atul Tripathi secured the second rank with a score of 230 and Thiruvananthapuram's Krishana Ramesh Nair clinched the third rank with a score of 223.

UCEED 2018 Admission Procedure After Result

Candidates who have qualified UCEED 2018 exam can take admission in IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIITDM Jabalpur. For taking admission, they need to fill in the common application form for admission to B.Des programme. The application form will be available at the IIT Bombay admission portal wherefrom candidates can easily download the same. The first round of seat allotment will start from July 2, second round from July 9 and third round from July 14, 2018. Seat allocation will be done basis the applicant's UCEED rank, category and choice of institute. The UCEED 2018 Admission process will start from June 8 to June 23, 2018. 

UCEED 2018 Application Process

The application for UCEED 2018 exam will be available online from October 9, 2017. Candidates need to register themselves on the official website of UCEED before the last date to apply for the exam. The candidates must go through UCEED eligibility criteria 2018 before applying for the exam. There is no use of proceeding with the application process if you don't meet the eligibility criteria as the application will be rejected by the authorities. The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable at any cost. So, to avoid any chances of rejection or wasting money in the application form, candidates should first go through the eligibility criteria and UCEED application process 2018. 

The candidates should provide the factual information on their personal/academic/contact and other details which are mandatory for the application. Incomplete applications forms will not be accepted for the entrance test.

UCEED 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are seeking admission to colleges/universities under UCEED 2018 should fulfill certain criteria for eligibility. The eligibility criteria for UCEED 2018 are one of the major aspects which define the eligibility. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Criterion 1: Age Limit

The OPEN/OBC-NCL candidate should have born on or after October 1, 1997, and SC/ST/PwD Candidates should have born on or after October 1, 1992.

Criterion 2: No. of Attempts:

Candidate can attempt UCEED 2018 maximum of two times that and that too in consecutive years.

Criterion 3: Qualifying Examination

Candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (Class 12 or equivalent) in 2017 or appearing in 2018.  Candidates from all streams are eligible

Criterion 4: Nationality

All nationals can apply for UCED 2018.

Note: Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2016 are not eligible for UCEED 2018.

UCEED 2018 Application Form

The application form will be accessible online from October 9, 2017. The deadline to submit the UCEED 2018 Application Form will be November 10, 2017. After the regular application form submission, the application forms from the candidates will be accepted along with a late fine fee of INR 500. The last date to submit UCEED application form 2018 with late fee is November 17, 2017.The candidates are supposed to fill UCEED application form 2018 on time to avoid complications during the time of entrance test and admission. The candidates should verify the information before submitting the application form for UCEED 2018. The fee can be paid through online mode ie; Credit Card/Debit Card or various Payment Gateways provided on the website.

How to Apply for UCEED 2018?

The candidates should fill UCEED application form 2018 within the prescribed time by the University. Aspirants are expected to fill their details on personal/educational/contact and other details in the UCEED 2018 Application Form.

  • The candidate should visit the official link and enter all the required details for completing the registration process of UCEED 2018.
  • Filling personal and academic details are the next procedure in the application form of UCEED 2018.
  • The candidates should Upload the scanned images of photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), 12th Mark Sheet, DOB proof (X mark sheet, Aadhaar card, etc).
  • Candidates who are appearing the qualifying exam (12th) have to upload a certificate from the school/college principal in the prescribed format.
  • Application form of UCEED 2018 will not be considered complete without the submission of fee. After submitting the form, take a printout of the application form and keep it safe for future use.

UCEED 2018 Examination Centers

UCEED 2018 will be conducted at various centres across India. The UCEED 2018 will be held in 19 cities in India. Candidates are expected to opt for 3 centers for UCEED 2018 examination in the order of preference while filling the online application form. Changes for examination centres won’t be accepted once the application form is submitted by the candidate. However, the final decision to allot UCEED examination centre 2018 will be of the exam conducting bodies. Candidates reaching any centre except the one allotted to them will not be given an entry in the examination hall.

UCEED 2018 Exam Pattern:

UCEED exam pattern 2018 consists of the structure of the paper including subjects, exam duration, marks allotted, negative marking and type of questions. Exam pattern of UCEED 2018 will help the students to prepare better for the exam as it will help them understand the number of questions, their difficulty level and the time allotted to them to solve the questions. 

Mode of Examination: Online mode

Number of Questions: The test will have total 80 questions of maximum 300 marks.

Type of Questions: Type of questions in each section will vary from each other.

  • Section A will have 20 questions of Numerical Answer Type (NAT).
  • Section B contains total 20 Multiple Select Questions (MSQ).
  • Section C contains 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

Number of Sections: 3 sections (A, B and C.)

Exam Duration: 3 hours

Marking Scheme: Each correct answer in Section A will carry 4 marks, Section B carries 4 marks for each right answer and for Section C, 3 marks will be given for each correct response.

Negative Marking: There is a negative marking of 1 mark in section C only.

UCEED 2018 Syllabus:

UCEED 2018 syllabus consists of six topics: Visualization and spatial ability, Observation and design sensitivity, Environmental and social awareness, Analytical and logical reasoning, Language and Creativity, Design thinking and problem-solving. Candidates should refer the previous year’s question paper so that they will get an idea on the kind of questions asked for the examination.
