UPSC Topper and Alumnus of FMS, Delhi was Felicitated by Vice Chancellor, DU and the Dean of FMS
Ira Singhal, the UPSC topper this year was honoured by Mr. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of Delhi University and Professor Dr. M.L. Singla, Dean of FMS on 19th August 2015.
Ira is an alumnus of Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi of the Batch of 2008.
The gathering consisted of eminent professors from both FMS and other colleges of Delhi University, students of FMS and a group of differently-abled students as well.
Like a proud father, Dr. Singla shared his, and his institute’s delight in Ms. Singhal’s achievements and her spirit. Ira spoke about how her desire and determination to do a lot of things and do them well made her a better manager in her college days. As she came to FMS, the kind of culture and exposure here helped her groom herself into what she is today. On the other hand, the Vice Chancellor put forward his thoughts, and questioned the very context of the word ‘differently abled’.
She discussed about how her preparation helped crack the UPSC exam and what kept her going. The knowledge she gained at FMS and during her engineering days at NSIT have made her a better manager and prepared her for the future. She reiterated that every IAS officer should do an MBA to get global exposure and perspective. She talked about the changes she desires in the system so that more hospitality is rendered towards the differently-abled.
She spoke about the simple belief that giving one's best under every circumstance, and working the hard way towards a dream is the best way to make it come true. What it leads to, and what it doesn’t, is not in one’s hand- only the effort is.
Such is the spirit of our every day heroes. Ms. Ira Singhal is a true example of grit, will and perseverance. No dream is too far if you’ve set out to achieve it, and then, nothing can stop you.
