MoUs with Chinese institutions has been a part of the VIT curriculum for the past 12 years. VIT has had pacts with almost 14 such Chinese institutions, including reputed institutions like Sichuan University and Wuhan University. Around 450 Chinese students are enrolled at VIT, for reasons owing to low expenditure, good placements and a keen interest in the Indian culture.
VIT collaborates with Chinese Universities to admit students. Chinese students first go through a three- month language course to improve their English. A Chinese centre is also established in VIT in collaboration with HANBAN, also known as Confucius Institute (a non-governmental public institution affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China). The language centre established offers Chinese courses of different levels. The first, entry level course is offered free of cost for VIT students. The centre conducts a proficiency test of Chinese. Those who clear this test, get a chance to visit China.
