To apply for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), candidates need to fulfill some conditions mentioned in WBJEE eligibility criteria section. Various factors including age, qualification, and nationality constitute WBJEE 2018 eligibility criteria. Candidates who fulfill all these categories can only fill WBJEE application form 2018. If candidates fill the application form even without meeting the conditions, their forms will be rejected and they will not be allowed to appear for WBJEE 2018, which will be conducted on April 22, 2018. Only registered and eligible candidates will be provided WBJEE admit card 2018 to participate in the exam. WBJEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board designs the eligibility criteria for WBJEE to find deserving candidates through WBJEE 2018 for admission in nearly 104 engineering institutes. Application forms for the candidates who meet eligibility criteria of WBJEE 2018 will only be accepted and provided WBJEE 2018 admit cards.

Here is WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018:

Age:

  • The age requirement for candidates applying for regular B.E./ B.Tech varies from those applying for marine engineering course.
  • To apply for B.Tech/ B.E the candidate should be 17 years old as on December 31, 2018. However, there is no upper age limit to apply for this course through WBJEE 2018.
  • To apply for marine engineering through WBJEE 2018, the candidates must be between 17 to 25 years of age on December 31, 2018.

Nationality:

Only citizen of India can fill WBJEE application form 2018.

Domicile:

There is no requirement of domicile in particular except for the candidates who want relaxation in fee or want admission in Government Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy colleges. Any candidate who is a resident of West Bengal for 10 years on December 31, 2017, or whose parents are permanent residents of West Bengal don't need domicile.

Academic Qualification: 

  • Candidates who have qualified 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics can only apply for the exam. In addition to these two subjects, the candidates must have studied any one of Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as a compulsory subject in 12th class.
  • Candidates should have also passed in English in class 12th examination with minimum 30% marks.
  • Candidates who have to appear in the qualifying exam in 2018 can also apply for WBJEE 2018. However, their admission process will be continued only when they pass the qualifying exam with minimum required marks to meet WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018.

Minimum marks required:

Candidates from general category should have scored an aggregate of 45% marks in 12th while the percentage required for reserved categories is 40 to meet eligibility criteria for WBJEE exam 2018.

WBJEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria: Important Information

  • Conditions given in the WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018 for engineering exam will not be verified during online application process.
  • The college authorities will verify WBJEE eligibility criteria during WBJEE counselling 2018 and further admission process.
  • Candidature of the applicants who don’t meet WBJEE counselling criteria 2018 will be cancelled irrespective of their high rank in the merit list.
  • Just appearing in WBJEE exam and scoring a high rank doesn't assure admission to an engineering college in West Bengal. Candidates must meet WBJEE eligibility criteria 2018.

Institute Specific WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2018

WBJEE eligibility criteria for engineering colleges in terms of academic qualifications differ from each other for some specific Universities. The table below has institute specific WBJEE eligibility criteria to help candidates prepare well for the admission at the college of their choice.

Eligibility for all available courses except “Jute & Fibre Technology”:

  • 10+2 or any equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 60% marks aggregate and at least 30% marks in English. Candidates from SC/ST/ OBC/ PwD need to get a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

For Jute & Fiber Technology Course

  • 10+2 or any equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 45% marks aggregate and at least 30% marks in English. The requirement is 40% for ST/SC/OBC/PWD candidates.

2.    

The Jadavpur University (Faculty of Engineering & Technology)

  • Candidate must have qualified 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCM with at least 60% marks aggregate, which is 45% for reserved category and 30% marks in English.

For five-year degree course in Architecture

  • Apart from above eligibility criteria, the candidate must qualify NATA or Paper-II of the JEE Main 2018 to secure a seat in Architecture course.

3.    

The West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences B.Tech.(Dairy Technology) Course

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 exam with individual pass marks in both theory and practical with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as a compulsory subject in regular class mode from recognized board/institute to get admission in B.Tech (Dairy Technology) course.
  • He/she should have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in PCM with English.

4.    

The Neotia University

All B. Tech. Courses except Marine Engineering: 

The application should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCM as compulsory subject with 60% marks aggregate.

B. Tech. in Marine Engineering: 

In order to get admission in the marine engineering course at the Neotia University through WBJEE 2018, the candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCM as compulsory subject with minimum 60% marks aggregate and at least 50% in English.
