Department of Botany of Punjabi University is conducting a workshop on Systematics of Plants and Microbes
Department of Botany of Punjabi University will be conducting a Workshop on Systematics of Plants and Microbes during December 20, 2015-December 26, 2015, which is sponsored by University of Grants Commission (UGC) and Botanical Society of Punjab University.
The workshop will include lecture sessions, practical sessions and field work pertaining to systematics of algae and cyanobacteria, fungi, bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms. Keeping in view the importance of plant and microbial resources and decline in trained human resources for plant systematics, the present workshop on Systematics of Plants and Microbes has been proposed. The workshop will focus on the traditional and modern approaches to systematics.
The workshop is meant for the researchers, teachers working in colleges and universities and biologists who are interested in the field of Plant Systematics. The maximum intake for the workshop will be 40 and the participants will be selected by a committee constituted for the same.
Registration Fee: All the participants have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 3000 only.
The interested candidates may apply by filling up the registration form and send the same to the Head, Department of Botany, Punjabi University, Patiala on or before 05.12.2015. The registration fee may be remitted in advance through a demand draft in favour of “Coordinator, Botanical Workshop, Department of Botany, Punjabi University, Patiala”.
The selected participants will be intimated by email. The participants will have to arrange for their TA, boarding and lodging. However, the boarding and lodging may be subsidized depending on the availability of funds.
Department of Botany is a part of Punjabi University, Patiala. It is approved by UGC. The department offers Master of Science, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy courses.
