XAT 2017

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2017 is an All India Exam conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur to select deserving and appropriate candidates for its management courses. Every year, numerous candidates take this examination to get admission in XLRI or any other good institute where XAT scores are accepted. XAT has become the most popular examination after CAT and MAT. XLRI offers two-year management programmes including Human Resource Management, Business Management Programme and Global MBA Programme.

The exam will be held from 10 AM to 1:30 PM and the mode of examination will be pen & paper based.

XAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years or equivalent from a recognized university or institute.
  • Final year students who are waiting for their results can also apply.
  • Foreign candidates can apply through GMAT scores (except Dubai and Kathmandu)

There is no age limit to apply for XAT 2017. Candidates who have three years of work experience will be preferred for admission to the Global Management Programme of XLRI.

XAT 2017 Application Process

The eligible candidates who wish to apply for the course will be required to apply for the exam within prescribed deadlines. The XAT 2017 application process is completely online based. The application process has started and will end on November 30, 2016. 

First, the candidate will be required to register for XAT. To register, follow the steps given below:

  1. Visit the official website
  2. Click on ‘Register’ and create an account with personal email ID.
  3. You will receive a personal XAT ID and registration link.
  4. Click on the link and create your own password for future references/uses.
  5. Post that, the site will guide you through a few more steps before completing the registration.

Candidates will need to fill in the required details in the application process:

  • General Information (Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Phone Number, Category, etc.)
  • Mailing address and permanent address
  • Educational Qualification and Work Experience
  • Choose XAT test city
  • Upload a scanned photograph and signature

Take a printout of the application for future references.

The candidate will need to pay a certain amount to register themselves for the exam. You can make payments through three modes mentioned below:

Mode 1- Online Payment
Mode 2- Cash Payment
Mode 3- Demand Draft

XAT 2017 Exam Pattern

Last year, XLRI announced significant changes in the exam pattern. The changes are listed below:

  • The number of questions has been reduced from more than a 100 to 78 and the time duration remains 170 minutes.
  • The candidates are allowed to leave 13 questions unattempted, beyond this, any unattempted question will have 0.05 of negative marking; whereas 0.25 marks will be deducted for any wrong answer.
  • The difficulty level of the exam has been reduced so that the candidate does not have to worry about the timing, and have enough time to demonstrate their all-round skills and perform their best.
  • Questions in the General Knowledge section have been reduced to 25.

Considering these changes, XAT 2017 exam pattern is expected to be:

XAT 2017 Syllabus

XAT 2017 Admit Card

XAT 2017 admit card will be available for download on the official website from December 20, 2016. Candidates will need to download their respective admit cards. Please remember, admit cards will not be sent to the candidates via post.

Steps to download XAT 2017 Admit Card

Candidates who want to download their admit cards can follow these simple steps-

  1. Visit the official site of XLRI-XAT.
  2. On the homepage, click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ button.
  3. Once the page opens, fill in your XAT 2017 ID  and Password. Going ahead, click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  4. After clicking the Submit button, the candidates’ profile page will appear.
  5. Check out the link to download the format.
  6. The admit card will be downloaded and saved.
  7. Take a print out of the admit card for future references.

XAT 2017 Admit Card: Points to Remember

  1. The XAT 2017 admit card will not be sent to the candidate via post. You will need to download it online and take a printout and keep it neatly.
  2. Any marks or writings on the admit card will lead to disqualification of the candidate.
  3. The admit card will contain information like-name, photograph, signature of the candidate, XAT roll number, exam time and date, reporting time at the centre, full information about the exam centre and brief instructions to the candidates appearing for the examination.
  4. Please remember to carry the print out of the admit card to the exam centre. Failing to do so might disqualify the appearing candidate.

XAT 2017 Result

Right after a few days of the XAT 2017, the exam authorities will release OMR sheets and answer key giving away unofficial results to the candidates. The official result is announced within a few days of declaration of the OMR sheets. The results come out in the form of merit/cut-offs for every course according to the candidates’ percentile.

How to Check XAT 2017 Results Online

Candidates will be able to check their results on the XLRI-XAT website. A step by step guide to check your XAT 2017 result online:

  1. Open the official website of XLRI-XAT.
  2. As the page opens, fill in your registration number, date of birth and security code and press Login.
  3. Once you press Login, a fresh page will open, displaying your XAT 2017 result.
  4. Download the scorecard and take a printout of the same for future reference. Keep it handy till the time admission procedures are completed.

XAT 2017 Selection Procedure

The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the written examination. Based on the scores, the candidate will be called for group discussion followed by a personal interview, which will be the final phase of selection. The group discussion and personal interview are generally held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Jamshedpur.

XAT scores are accepted throughout various B-Schools across India. However, the admission process may vary from that of XLRI.
