YMCAUST celebrated Yoga Day with much fervour

The Yoga Day was organized by NSS wing of the YMCA University of Science and Technology under the guidance of Dean Student Welfare, Dr. S.K. Aggarwal!

By honouring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative towards celebration of Yoga Day on June 21, 2015, the nation had come together and celebrated the day with earnest zeal.
 
As a part of celebration, a yoga session was carried out by NSS wing of the YMCA University of Science and Technology under the guidance of Dean Student Welfare, Dr. S.K. Aggarwal in the University Park during early morning which was attended by a number of staff and faculty members, their spouses and students of the University.
 
Yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice having its origin over 6000 years ago in India, aims to integrate the body and the mind. The declaration of this day came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by PM Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014.
 
 
 
 
 
The programme kick started with lighting of the lamp and prayer followed by performance of various yogasanas. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Grover and Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Tilak Raj were also participated in the yoga activities. Yoga expert Sh. Anil Aggarwal, Dr. S.K. Aggarwal, Dean Student Welfare and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, NSS Officer through light on effectiveness of yoga asanas and guided them about various yoga poses including Tadasana, Vṛikṣasana, Pada-Hastasana, Ardha C̣akrasana, Trikoṇasana in Standing posture, Bhadrasana, Ardha Uṣṭrasana, Sasankasana and Vakrasana in sitting posture, Bhujangasana, Salabhasana and Makarasana in prone posture and Setubandhasana, Pavanamuktasana and Savasana in supine posture, Kapalabhati and Pranayaam to lead a healthier and happy life.
 
This is the first time that yoga day will be celebrated in 192 countries. The event is expected to be a remarkable one and is trending the social media too. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Dimri, NSS Officer. Programme concluded with singing of National Anthem and distribution of refreshment among the participants.
