“Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with you, the world and the nature” says PM Mr. Narendra Modi in UN General Assembly!
On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. The declaration came after the call for the adoption of June 21st as International Day of Yoga by Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. He stated: "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with you, the world and the nature”.
Keeping this in mind, Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Management, VESIM took an initiative to support this movement by organizing an Induction Programme for the 2nd year students on July 6, 2015. After completing 2 months of summer training Programme, it was a perfect occasion to introduce the importance of yoga so that students can inculcate and practice yoga in their life now and later when they are a part of the corporate world. The chief guest for the day was Dadi Vaswani – Head of VES School, who has been associated with VES for over more than 30 years, Mr. Amar Asrani - Trustee of VESIM, Dr.Satish Modh - Director of VESIM. It was also a pleasure to have Swami Suddhanandji of Yogoda Satsanga Society, to share his knowledge with the students about Yoga. Being an engineer he worked for Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and was soon inclined towards the divine practice. He emphasized the importance of yoga in today’s time, how yoga can play an important role in managing stress. He also highlighted the interrelation between yoga and Management. Yoga eventually helps in smoothly managing our lives by disconnecting from all the unwanted things. There was a direct interaction session between the students and Swamiji, wherein students communicated their doubts and their problems towards approaching Yoga.
The Programme concluded with the book launch of Dr.Satish Modh ‘Discover the Arjuna in You-An 18 Step Guide for Self Awareness’ on this special occasion. Discover the Arjuna in You is based on Bhagavad Gita that Embarks on a journey of Motivation to conquer every challenge along the way and emerge a winner. He has also authored several pioneering books on disaster management and published research papers in reputed peer reviewed journals.
