hi, i am a first year student pursuing computer science in IIT Roorkee. i am doing well in my branch but i am also considering a career as an IAS officer. Is it a good decision to pursue this path as :1)i have to start studying humanities from scratch 2) i will have to decrease focus on my own course which will offer me a better paying job 3) there is no gaurantee of cracking the IAS exam. Please guide me...

Hello student, 

You need not to leave your engineering as the minimum eligibility to become an IAS officer is to pass graduation in any stream. The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is responsible for management of regulatory and development works, with officers in strategic positions throughout the country.


Eligibility:

 

  • You should have passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university
  • You should have attained the age between 21 to 30 years


After completing your graduation you can appear for Civil Services Examination (CSE). Cracking the Civil Services Examination (CSE) requires consistent and dedicated efforts.
