Dear student, GATE entrance exam is taken to study M. Tech in a particular engineering field. So you could take GATE for M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. After you finish the course, you can apply for a job.

The minimum eligibility criteria of UPSC (Engineering) is graduation/ B. tech. So once you finish this course, or when you are in the final year, you can apply for UPSC exam.
