Dear student, there isn’t much difference between the two.

A screenwriter is one who writes the script of a film. The screenwriter creates the dialogue, the characters and the story line of a movie script. The screenwriter is often the most essential person in film production because no movie can start without some form of a script. Screenwriters are extremely adept at weaving together visual elements within plot and dialogue. Their work provides the directors, producers, actors and executives a project to work on in the first place.

Many people are under the incorrect belief that one must attend film school or have a degree in creative writing to be a successful screenwriter. There are numerous creative writing courses that you can take that will help you develop your craft, but the fastest way to becoming a good writer is by writing. In writing screenplays, the simple act of writing a script from beginning to end is like taking a class.

Having said that, here are a few institutes which offer screenwriting/ script writing courses-

Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University

The Film School, Mumbai

RK Films and Media Academy, Delhi

Digital Academy The Film School, Mumbai

• Bhavan's Dept. of Film & TV Studies, Delhi
