Department of Buddhist Studies is affiliated to University of Jammu and accredited as 'A' Grade University by National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India. The vision and aim behind establishing this Department as a distinguished centre of Post-Graduate Teaching and Research in the North-Western state of India was to preserve and disseminate the traditional Buddhist wisdom and the chequered history of its glorious past in Jammu-Kashmir region which happened to be the most prominent stronghold of Buddhists from the days of Ashoka and Kaniska. The Department aims at bringing into light through research work, the philosophical wisdom, cultural glory and traditional art and architecture of Buddhist Kashmir, which is presently languishing in oblivion.

The college well developed all modern facilities.

Hostel
College is provide hostel facility for boys and two for girls. The Hostels are neat, clean and possess all kinds of amenities for making the living of boarders recreational and enjoyable. The room of each hostel is well ventilated and airy. Few rooms in each hostel have single seated capacity and majority is double seated. Each hostel has a very big lush green sprawling lawn in front and backyard of the hostel. Each hostel has telephone facility, sports facility (T.T./Badminton/Chess etc) drinking water fitted with acquaguard, refrigerators, water coolers, television, modern cooking gas plant, geysers fitted, economical and affordable mess charges. Inverters are fitted for acting as standby light arrangement in the absence of power, good reading rooms with latest career and information promoting magazines, local/national papers subscribed, well furnished guest room and desired first aid is available in each Hostel.
Classroom
All classroom well developed and well furnished.
Laboratory
Recognizing the crucial importance of computer networking, the University initiated its efforts by evolving a plan for developing a Campus Wide Computer Network with a mandate to link together all the computing resources located in different departments, centres and other buildings of the University for easy and effective access by the University community comprising of faculty, scientific and research personnel, students, and staff to a host within and/or outside the University of IT- based services such as the e-mail, internet, and access to a large variety of knowledge sources available. The IT-Cell with an emphasis to make Jammu University an IT enabled University. Realizing that the Campus Network is the backbone for the implementation of Intranet and Internet applications, the Campus Networking project was conceived and proposed.
