Department of Chemical Sciences was established in the year 2010 with four faculty members with a batch of twelve students enrolled for the M.Sc. program in Chemistry. Initially the Department offers Post-graduate studies leading towards MSc degree. At present the department can accommodate 15 students in each semester. This department will start Ph.D. degree programs in near future.

Sikkim University endeavors to establish a world class library with up-to-date, contemporary academic and general books, journals, magazines, research publications, manuscripts, reports and other documents in various disciplines and subjects. In a very short period of over about two years, the University Central Library has spread into more than 9000 sqft and has acquired over 10000 books from across the disciplines/subjects including Pharmacy, Library Science, Microbiology, LLB, Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Sociology, Psychology, Physics, Floriculture and Horticulture, Mass Communication, Geography, Research Methodology and others. University has also procured about 1200 Braille books in various disciplines.
