Amazing surrounding. Easy access to public transport. Beautiful and peaceful campus. Hostels are well furnished. Classrooms are updated with projectors. Labs are well equipped with all the required instruments. Canteen serves good food at lower prices. Campus crowd is competitive. All the students are intelligent and smart. Fest is organised every year with full enthusiasm. Best placements are guaranteed. Most of the students get placed in reputed companies with amazing salary packages. Faculties provide good knowledge and exposure to the students. They help in overall development of the students. They even provide notes for better understanding of the subject and relevant information about the corporate world.



Faculty

There are about 97 regular, full-time faculty members at IIMA. Most of them have had some work experience or part of their graduate education abroad. Some combine corporate experience with teaching and academic research. Faculty members enjoy tremendous freedom in choosing what to teach, how to teach, and what research interests to pursue. They regulate themselves. They subject themselves to evaluation both by peers and by students. The high expectations from peers and students keep them on their toes. The Institute has over 60 research and academic associates assisting the faculty with research and teaching at any given time. Bright young PhDs and post-graduates interested in academics go through a rigorous selection process before they are allowed to work as research associates or academic associates. In the two or three years that they typically spend at the Institute, they are exposed to excellence in both research and teaching. They learn so much that many business schools hire them as faculty.

More about Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad)

Over the last several years, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has been ranked as the number one management school in the country. IIMA was ranked 56 among the top 100 international B-schools in the world that offer full-time MBA by The Economist in its latest ranking. Also, the Financial Times (FT) has ranked the two-year postgraduate programme in management (PGP) of IIMA in the top ten programmes in the category of Masters Programmes in Management that do not require work experience as pre-requisite for admission. The Financial Times has also ranked the one-year postgraduate programme in management for executives (PGPX) among the top MBA programmes globally. The two postgraduate programme in management with a specialization in agri-sector (PGP-ABM) is ranked at number one among comparable programmes globally by Eduniversal.

In 2008, IIMA was awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation. This accreditation awarded by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) certifies that the quality of IIMA’s academic processes and programmes are on par with the best business schools globally that have similar accreditation. It was then that IIMA became the first business school in the country to be awarded the accreditation. 

Courses Offered at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad)

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) Provided four long duration programmes, all residential: Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), Post-Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management (PGP-ABM), Post-Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPX), and Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). The first three are equivalent to MBA; the last one is equivalent to PhD. These are all diploma rather than degree programmes because the Institute has stayed out of the university system in order to preserve autonomy and maintain flexibility in curricular decisions. Around 300 students are selected every year from among  2,00,000 applicants. The selections are based on their performance in an aptitude test and a personal interview.

Classroom

The teaching wing of IIMA has six classrooms and five seminar rooms. This number is in addition to the seminar and conference rooms in the faculty wings. Each class is an amphitheatre to facilitate case discussions. Each classroom has sixty-five revolving seats, each having the nametag of the student. Also, all classrooms have network connectivity to facilitate presentations. The new campus will add five more classrooms, 12 seminar rooms and an auditorium.

Sports

The sports complex at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad consists of facilities for indoor/ outdoor games and recreation activities. Games an and recreation activities such as soccer, cricket, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball and basketball are very popular among the student community. The complex also has a gymnasium for fitness conscious students and chess or carom boards for those who prefer to stay indoors. During COMBOS - the Institute's intramural cultural fete - IIMA is a divided house where the dorms are split into three groups and pitted against each other in literary, cultural and sports competitions.

Set up in 1962, the Vikram Sarabhai Library (VSL) is named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, world-renowned physicist and founding Director of IIMA. The library that is one of the best management libraries in Asia remains open 24X7. The mission behind setting up this library was to facilitate convenient and user-friendly access to current, global and relevant information by identifying, acquiring, organizing and retrieving information in various formats. The library has a digital collection of over 100 databases that can be accessed from any networked computer within the campus. The library also provides specialized tools like EBSCO Discovery, journal title search (A to Z), remote login and institutional repository searching.
