Course Description :
The three-year BA (Hons) Media & Journalism program will help students to learn the importance of creating and contextualizing message for the masses in today’s rapidly expanding communications media, which has unified the entire global community. This undergraduate Media & Journalism course will be a new age, design-based, digital and tech savvy mass communication course – unique in the country. Its international curricula and focus on special interest modules will give its students an edge in the industry.
Students will initiate the understanding of media with traditional print media and different forms of writing for it. Inputs in Culture & Society, Politics & Media, Economic & Business Reporting, Historical context to mass communication & media will provide contextual support to form the base for further learning.
Globalisation, communication and media with particular reference to television journalism and digital journalism will be an important feature. The content will focus on global issues, international communication (Developing Nations vs Developed Nations) and international politics. This will be supported with international exposure through overseas exchange credited in the curriculum. Students will be exposed to the principles & practices of public relations, advertising principles and strategies with emphasis on Account planning, PR writings & media relations.
Digital Media & Technology will follow next with Internet writing. Students will explore the principles, mechanics, techniques, tools, processes, and aesthetics of television production. The technical studies will introduce students to the technical and operational basics of audio, video, and multimedia production. The technical skills will include sound technology in radio and television and applications of editing and sound processing.
These courses are open to students on completion of 10+2 or equivalent, in any discipline, with minimum 50% marks.
3 Years Full Time
The course will lead to employment in the traditional media sectors, new media, broadcast (TV / Radio), foreign media, and communication experts for international corporations. Entry level positions as ‘Content Creators’ and ‘research & documentation’ Journalist, TV Correspondent, Director, Editor, Screenwriter, online content creators/ journalists, RJ, VJ, Producer.
