I am currently pursuing btech in mechanical engineering. I am studying in 3rd year of my degree. I want to ask as to when is the good time to pursue MS in automobile in germany after bachelors or after gaining job experience? Also what are the job prospects after i gain my MS? I want to return to india immediately after my MS.

you have many options as fresher 1)GRE 2)TOEFL if course is in english 3)learn german language and appear for TESTDAF or DSH OR gather some first hand experience in India for 1-2 years and then apply for MS .

    Dear student,

The extended time to apply to institutes in Germany is March end. That''s when most of the engineering universities close their applications. You will also need to take either the English Proficiency Test (TOEFL / IELTS) and the German Language Proficiency Test, which is required to study at German higher education institutions.

In your case, you may look at the following universities, which specialise in Automobile Engineering:

    • ESSLINGEN UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES
    • FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences (Aachen)
    • Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (Ingolstadt)Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences(Braunschweig/Wolfenbüttel campuses) (Wolfsburg)
    • Munich University of Technology (München)
    • Esslingen University of Applied Sciences (Esslingen)

Our take is that you work for a year or two in India and then apply for Masters. This helps you not only gain domain knowledge (which is an added advantage), you will be financially independent as well. While you want to to return to India immediately after completing your MS, we suggest otherwise. Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Siemens, Bosch, SAP etc are based out of Germany and provide an excellent opportunity to gain industry expertise.  If you have a work experience in these companies, trust us, your market value in India will go up.

All the best for all your options....
