What is B.Tech in Environmental Engineering?

B.Tech in Environmental Engineering is a four-year undergraduate course. The program enables candidates enrolled for the course to work for the improvement of the environment. The course also helps students learn the trade of developing new techniques to better the use of renewable sources and non-renewable sources that are available. The four-year B.Tech in Environmental Engineering programme is structured in a manner to educate students about the applied science of engineering principals in harmony with the environmental studies. The course helps students to graduate and work in the areas concerning healthy water and improvement in land reformation for humans and other organisms.

Understanding the course

B. Tech. in Environmental Engineering is recognised as a Bachelor level programme, which as the names suggest, is designed to help students learn the requisite skills to deal with Environmental Sciences. This may include topics like air pollution and water pollution control, hazardous waste management, land management and public health security.

Additionally, the B.Tech in Environmental Engineering course also includes the study of biological, chemical and physical components of the environment. This allows students to understand and learn the principles of conservation, biodiversity, soil contamination, groundwater contamination, and climate change. 

B.Tech in Environmental Engineering is an elaborate programme designed primarily to allow students to grasp the deeper knowledge of the way to use natural resources and the way to conserve them.

The admission in B.Tech in Environmental Engineering is no rocket science. Candidates can get admission in some colleges on merit basis. In this, the admission is made on basis of student’s marks in class 12. Other colleges conduct entrance test to admit students into the course.

  •  For admission in NITs and IIITs, students need to pass the JEE Main exam conducted for the admission in engineering courses in the month of April.
  •  Students clearing the JEE Advanced held in May are good to do a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering from IITs in India.
