Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) - Computer Science is an all-India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to Post Graduation/Ph.D. courses in Engineering and Architecture.

GATE 2017 will be organised by Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2017 (Saturdays and Sundays).

GATE (CS) 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed a graduate degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) are eligible for GATE exam.

Those appearing in the final or pre-final year of such programmes can also apply.

Candidates completed Master degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent can apply for GATE 2017.

Final year or pre-final year students of such programmes can also apply.

Candidates in the second or higher year of the four-year Integrated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/ AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE (I), AMICE (I) by the Institute of Civil Engineer (India)-ICE (I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech Those who have completed section A or an equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Exam Pattern

GATE (CS) Exam Pattern

GATE exam pattern will be divided into two parts i.e. Part I - General Aptitude (GA) which is common for all the GATE papers and Part II that is based on the specialisation.

GATE exam duration is 3 hours. The question paper will be containing both multiple choice questions and numerical answer type questions.

GATE (CS) 2017 Exam Syllabus

Part I:

There will be 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions will be carting 15 marks are in General Aptitude (GA). Questions in GA will be based in A) Verbal Ability and B) Numerical Ability.
