MAT or Management Aptitude Test is a national level entrance examination for admission to management courses across several colleges in India. MAT is conducted four times in a year, in the months of February, May, September, December. 

MAT exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) which is an apex body of management which has been organising a lot of management related activities and initiatives such as Distance Management Education, Management Development Programmes, Special Conferences, Research & Publications, Testing Services and Competitions. 

Centre for Management Services (CMS) is the special division of AIMA that undertakes testing and other management services.  It conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) that has been approved by the Ministry of HRD as a National Entrance Test. Candidates now can choose to take either the Paper Based Test or the Computer Based Test.

MAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The minimum qualification taking MAT is graduation in any discipline from any recognised University or equivalent recognised degree.

A final year student in any undergraduate (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc.) can also appear provisionally.

Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which is different for different institutions.

Application fees detail

Candidates can obtain the form by paying an application fee of INR 1200/-.

The fee is payable via Net Banking, Debit card, Credit card or using a Demand Draft.

MAT exam is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers and is usually of 2.5 hours duration. The test is designed to measure a person’s general aptitudes and has the following sections:-

Language Comprehension: Unseen Passage, Grammar, English, Vocabulary, Spotting Errors and others

Mathematical Skills: Percentage, Number System, Height & Distance, Profit / Loss, Time & Work, etc.

Intelligence and Logical Reasoning: Sitting Arrangements, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Problems on Clock, Verbal Reasoning, etc.

Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency: Line Charts, Series, Puzzles, Bar Charts, Pie Charts, Table Charts, Data Sufficiency, etc.

Indian and Global Environment: Current Events, General Knowledge, General Studies.
