NDA & Naval Academy Examination (II) Overview

The NDA exam is conducted by UPSC for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 136th Course, and for the 98th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from 02nd July, 2016. Basis the 2015 NDA entrance exam score, candidates can apply to approximately 375 vacancies. This will be divided between:
- National Defence: 320 [208 for Academy Army, 42 for Navy and 70 Air Force]
- Naval Academy: [10+2]
Cadet Entry: 55 Scheme
For Army Wing of National Defence Academy
- Passed Class 12th of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University
Air Force and Naval Wing of National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy
- Class 12th pass in a 10 + 2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination
Note** - Students who are appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination
A candidate must either be (i) a citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iii) a subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt of India. Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal
Note** - Age Limit, Sex and Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02nd January 1997 and not later than 01st January 2000 are eligible
- Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2015
- A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply
Application & Examination fees
Interested candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- to be deposited in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
Note** - Women candidates/ OBS/ SC & ST are exempted
"Pay by Cash" mode:
Candidates will need to print the system generated Pay-in-slip during Part- II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only. "Pay by Cash" mode option has been de-activated at 23.59 hours of 16th July 2015. However, applicants who have generated their Pay-in-slip before it is de-activated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date.
