NEET UG 2017 (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) is the test conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) for admission to the undergraduate medical courses at all India level. The test replaces medical examinations like AIPMT, DUMET from 2013 onwards. 

After the Supreme Court of India scrapped NEET on 18th July 2013 following opposition from several states, AIPMT was re-introduced for medical and dental college admissions. But now, NEET is back! The Supreme Court on 28th April 2016, ordered the CBSE to hold National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2016-17 in two phases starting May 1, 2016.

NEET UG 2017 Eligibility Criteria

For 15% All India Quota Seats:

The applicant must have attained the age of 17 years either at the time of admission or on or before December 31, 2017.

The maximum age limitation for 15% All India Quota Seats is 25 years as on December 31, 2017.

There will be a relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age for the applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward-Class categories.

Eligibility Criteria for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K students:

Students belonging to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K are not eligible for the 15% All India quota seats until they claim the eligibility by submitting an online Self-Declaration, which will be verified at the time of counselling.

Such candidates can appear in NEET for admission to Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, subject to the fulfilment of eligibility conditions.

Eligibility criteria for seats under the control of States/Universities/AFMC:

The applicant must have attained the age of 17 years either at the time of admission or on or before December 31, 2017.

Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental Colleges subject to the rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments and the Government of India.

The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission under seats in the control of participating States/Universities/Institutions shall be as per their rules and regulations.

NEET UG 2017 Application Details

A candidate can apply for the NEET exam through online mode only. The applicant is required to visit the official website of NEET 2017 and click on the "Apply Online" button.

After filling up all the required information, the applicant should make a payment by using Debit Card/ Credit Card.

NEET 2016 Exam Analysis


After so much of chaos, the Honourable Supreme Court directed to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct the NEET 2016 exam on May 1, 2016. NEET UG, formerly known as the AIPMT is conducted for aspirants for taking admission to the MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHS courses in the state and national level colleges across the country.
