More about Anna University

Established in 1978, Anna University offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences. The University strives to bridge the gap between academia and industries. The University came into existence by merging the following well known institutions: College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG)(1794), Madras Institute of Technology , Chrompet (MIT)(1949) and three Technological Departments of the University of Madras, Alagappa College of Technology (ACT)(1944) and School of Architecture and Planning (SAP)(1957). The main campus of the University is situated in Chennai and the other campuses are in Chrompet and Taramani.

Established in 1978, the library is spread over an area of 4122 sq.m. It is protected by 30 cameras for the purpose of surveillance. There is a library in the MIT campus spread over an area of over sq.m. The library is a surce of reference, bibliography, MALIBNET service, DELNET, Reprography, CD-ROM Databases, Internet browsing and e-services are provided by the library for its users.
