The Bharathiar University, established in 1982 by the Government of Tamil Nadu, is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). Named after the much celebrated national poet Subramania Bharathi, it strives to personify its motto ‘Educate to Elevate’. The University offers various facilities that include smart classrooms to deliver detailed knowledge to the students, sports facilities such as athletics,  badminton, ball badminton, basketball, cross country, football and much more. It provides facilities such as fitness centre, laboratories and a library that has around 1,73,823 books. It has four hostels in total which provide 22 rooms. 

It has four hostels, that are, Ladies Hostel for research scholars and PG students, Men's Hostel for research scholars and MBA & Additional Hostel for PG students. Hostels are equipped with all modern facilities and have provision for a guest house for visitors. There are total 22 rooms available.
