Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU), established in the year 1964 by Dr. Patangrao Kadam in the city of Pune, Maharashtra, was granted the status of “Deemed University” by the University Grants Commission in the year 1996. The University has been accredited with Grade A+ by NAAC in the year 2017 wherein it has also been ranked 54th among universities by the NIRF. The university has campuses in Pune, Mumbai, Sangli, Solapur, Karad, Kolhapur and New Delhi.

BVU offers degree, diploma and certificate courses at the Undergraduate (UG) Level, Postgraduate (PG) Level and Doctorate (Ph. D.) Level in several streams like Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Ayurved, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Management among many others. Aspiring candidates can take admission by giving Entrance Exam or through Merit. Students can apply both online and offline for which the Application Forms are available on the institute’s website. Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) offers courses at the Undergraduate Level. The student must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board to be eligible to attend the course. The candidates wanting to pursue a particular course need to clear the Entrance Test for that particular course, the application forms for which can be availed online from the university’s official website. The university offers various courses in 12 faculty like arts, commerce, science, medical sciences, homeopathy, etc. The courses offered under these streams include Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Archtecture among many others.

The application forms are available at www.bharatividyapeethuniversity.net or www.bvuniversity.edu.in. The aspirants are also required to pay a registration fee which will depend on the course they want to apply for. The candidates must read and follow the instructions given in the website before and while filling the application forms.

In case of forms being filled physically, candidates can access the forms from the designated centers and the completed form along with the payment of entrance fee is to be submitted to the Admission Office of BVU and the registration fee payment can be made in the form of Cash or Demand Draft the details of which are available on the university’s website. The Admission Cards for the Entrance Exams will be dispatched to the candidates by Post.

Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) offers courses at the Postgraduate Level. The student must have a Graduate degree or its equivalent from an AICTE approved institution in the particular subject to be eligible to attend the course. The aspirants wanting to pursue a particular masters course will be required to clear the Entrance Test for that course the application forms for which can be availed online from the university’s official website. The candidates are also required to pay a registration fee which will vary according to the course they want to pursue. Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) offers PhD Programmes in 79 subjects and M. Phil. in 2 subjects.

Eligibilty Criteria:

  1. The candidate interested in attending the PhD Prograame from this university should fulfill any of the following criteria:
    • Candidate should have a Master’s degree or its equivalent from a corresponding statutory regulatory body, with a minimum of 55% (5% relaxation for SC/ ST/ Differently-abled/ Other Categories) in aggregate or its equivalent Grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale.
    • Candidates who have cleared their M. Phil. with at leats 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade, shall be eligible to proceed with their research work resulting in PhD degree from the same university through an integrated programme.
    • Candidates aspiring for PhD programme but appearing for the final year of their post graduate examination are also elgible for giving the Entrance Test.
    • 15% of the seats over and above the total seats notified by the University for each subject will be allocated for Foreign/ NRI/ PIO candidates.
  2. Duration of the PhD Programme will be a minimum of 3 Years, including Course Work and can extend to a maximum of 6 Years.
  3. Procedure for Admission:
  • The admissions to the a PhD Programme will be on the basis of merit obtained by the candidates appearing for the “All India Entrance Test” conducted by the university and on fulfillment of eligibilty conditions.
  • The “All India Entrance Test” will have 50% weightage for Research Methodology and 50% for the syllabus of respective subjects which can be located on the university website. The Entrance Test will be conducted at the centres specified by the university.
  • The Entrance Test will be of 100 marks for which the duration will be 3 Hours and the candidate is required to score a minimum of 50% marks to qualify for the admission.
  • Additionally, the successful candidates will have to appear for an interview as a part f the admission process before the duly formed committee where the candidate is required to present his/ her research area through a presentation.
  • The subject-wise merit list of successful students will be uploaded on the university website within the stipulated time.
  • Only a pre-determined number of seats, as announced before, shall be admitted to the PhD Programme of a particular subject.

Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) Application Process

  • The students will be admitted to the respective course on the basis of merit obtained in by them in the Entrance Test for their particular subject or course conducted by the Bharati Vidyapeeth University.
  • Entrance Tests will be conducted on the date and time as mentioned in the Calendar of Events at the examination centres in cities of Pune, New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Jaipur, Bangalore, Chandigarh, etc. The exact location and address of the Examination Centres will be communicated to the candidates through their Admit Cards.
  • The aspirants are also required to complete the prescribed application form and submit it to the university along with the Registration Fee which will vary according to the course opted by the candidate.
  • The forms can be filled and submitted both online and offline.

Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) Admission & Selection Process

UG Admission Eligibility Criteria

The aspiring candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (H. S. C.) or the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) or any examination equivalent to 10+2 or HSc Examination from any recognised Board/ University.

  1. Candidate who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with the required minimum percentage of marks which will vary according to the course opted by the candidate (5% relaxation in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST or any other such Category).
  2. Applicants who are likely to appear or who have appeared for qualifying examination like HSC or its equivalent, but whose result has not been declared yet, will also be considered eligible for the respective Entrance Test. Also, the candidates will be required to produce their mark sheet at the time of counseling.

PG Admission Eligibilty Criteria

The aspiring candidates should have completed their Bachelors Degree or its equivalent in their particular subject or course from any recognised university or approved institution.

  1. Candidates who have completed their Bachelors degree or its equivalent with the required minimum aggregate percentage from any recognised university or approved institution.
  2. Applicants who are in the Final Year of their Bachelors degree or who have appeared for qualifying examination or its equivalent, but whose result has not been declared yet, will also be considered eligible for the respective Entrance Test. Also, the candidates will be required to produce their marksheet at the time of counselling.

Selection Process:

The candidate who has passed the entrance test and has been declared as qualified for admission will have to apply for the same in a prescribed application form along with the prescribed fee and following documents.

  • Authenticated copies of original statement of marks and degree certificates (Graduate, Post-graduate degree, M. Phil. NET/ SLET, etc.);
  • Migration/ Transference certificate;
  • Research Visa from a competent authority (for Foreign/ NRI/ PIO candidates).

The merit of the candidates obtaining equal marks will be decided on the basis of marks secured by them in their P. G. degree examination.

Course Work

The Course-work is a pre-requisite for the Ph.D. Programme. The credits assigned to Ph.D. Cousre-work will be as given below wherein 1 credit will be equivalent to 15 clock hours of Teaching.

  1. Research Methodology: 4 Credits
  2. Recent Advances in the subject: 4 Credits
  3. Presentations on proposed research work: 4 Credits
  • Presentations on review of literature: 2 Credits
  • Presentations on area of research: 2 Credits

Research Work

After submission of the course work, the student will be required to submit 5 copies of his/ her Ph.D. Research Proposal to the university. A Research Advisory Committee will be appointed by the university with the concerned research supervisor which will review the proposal and finalise the topic of research. The student’s registration will be valid for a period of 6 Years from the date of his/ her provisional registration.

The Infrastructure of Bharati Vidyapeeth University is well furnished and the area is spacious. The total Campus area of the University is 1,100 Acres. The University aims at providing all the required facilities to the students. Also, the Campuses of the University are well maintained. The hospitals of BVU are clean and hygienic. The University fosters for a ‘Clean and Green Environment’, thereby, people associated with the BVU try to plant as many trees as possible. 

The Campuses are at suitable city locations, from where the students are able to commute easily. For the students coming from other regions, there are suitable hostel facilities.
