Chaudhary Charan Singh University, formerly Meerut University, was established in 1965. The public state university is located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The University was named after the former Prime Minister of India. It has been graded 'B+' by NAAC. The vast and pollution-free campus sprawls over 222 acres of land having huge playgrounds, a botanical garden, rose garden with life-size statue of the late Prime Minister Ch. Charan Singh, Gymnasium, Indoor Stadium, Library, Hostels for the students, Auditorium, Guest House, Community Center, Medical Center, Residential Quarters, Canteen, Bank and Post office.

The university has various departments and a separate engineering college which offers courses in various branches of engineering. The university offers courses to postgraduates, undergraduates and doctoral candidates in the fields of Agricultural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Journalism, Mass Communication and Multimedia Techniques, Earth Sciences, Teacher and Physical Education, Fine Arts, Legal Studies, Applied Sciences, Home Science, Business Studies, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Censoring. They also offer diploma, advanced diploma and post graduate diploma degree to students. They have the following faculties which have various sub departments:

Chaudhary Charan Singh University has a huge pollution free campus of over 222 acres. It has Gymnasium, Indoor Stadium, Library, Hostels for girls and boys, Administrative Blocks, Auditorium, Guest House, Medical Centre, Canteen, Bank and Post office in its campus. It has three hostels for boys and two for girls. They also have a library in the university which was established in 1968. It contains various books, periodicals, and magazines. The university has a Health Centre which is located near the Guest House of the University. Their infrastructure also includes an auditorium with a capacity of more than a 1000 seats. The Computer Centre offers Computer Science courses to the students of various departments. The centre has two servers, 35 Pentium IV, 37 Pentium III, and one 386 computer systems. It has three high speed line printers. The University has one fully furnished guest house in the Campus premises. The Guest House has 17 rooms with all facilities and four special suits.


The university has seven hostels in the campus. Three hostels are for boys and two are for girls. Three boys hostels have a total accommodation of 200 rooms while the girls hostel has an accommodation of 186 rooms. Students studying diploma or certificate courses in Russian language are not eligible for accommodation in the hostel.

The Chaudhary Charan Singh University Library was established in 1968. The library is now called Rana Mahendra Pratap Library. The library is open for membership to all faculty members, students, scholars and faculty members of affiliated colleges.The collection of the library includes various journals, thesis, Magazines, Newspapers,  periodicals and books.
