Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad Admission 2017

Founded as the Central Laboratories for Scientific & Industrial Research (CLSIR) by the then princely State of Hyderabad in 1944, the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology is a national level research centre located in Hyderabad, Telangana. The institute comes under the ambit of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). With its expertise in chemistry and chemical technology, the institute provides solutions to challenges faced by the Industry, Government Departments and Entrepreneurs through basic and applied research, and process development. The institute is internationally recognized for its contributions to Chemistry research and is an ideal place for taking ideas to commercialization through state of the art research and development.

Under various bilateral programmes between various universities and institutes across the globe, CSIR-IICT hosts international students for four months to one year depending upon the agreement signed for the academic programme. The institute conducts research in basic and applied chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics, chemical engineering and provides science and technology inputs to the industrial and economic development of the country. The university offers admission to Ph.D and M.Tech programmes. The institute offers active research program leading to Ph.D. degree Chemical, Biological and Engineering Sciences. For admission to the Ph.D. programmes, the candidates can register either to AcSIR (preferably) or other State and Central Universities for their degrees.

Indian Institute of Chemical Technology PG Admission

The institute offers admission to Master of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering. The admissions to the programme are done through selection process once in a year. To be eligible for admission to the M.Tech programme, the applicants must have obtained bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with minimum qualifying marks. The M.Tech degree offered by the institute is awarded by AcSIR. 

Indian Institute of Chemical Technology Ph.D. Admission

The institute offers admission to Ph.D. (Science): Chemical & Biological Sciences and Ph.D. (Engineering): Chemical Engineering. The admissions in Ph.D. are open round the year for students having fellowship. The interested candidates should have a proof of M.Sc. / M.Tech/ B.Tech degree certificate and proof of any government fellowship to be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.

The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology has a green campus in the heart of the city of Hyderabad. The campus is well equipped with state of the art laboratories which have instrument and characterization facilities to carry out research programs. Playground and club are also provided for the recreation of students.



The hostel in the campus is a multi-storied building with all the amenities for both the researchers and students. Additionally, there are two Guest Houses as follows:

IICT club caters to the needs of both indoor and outdoor sports enthusiasts. There is an elected Committee to take care of the club activities. The Cub conducts various events like tours, sports and competitions. The Club has a pool of facilities like:

CSIR-IICT campus has a state-of-the-art auditorium where seminars, conferences, farewells, symposiums, cultural programs and other such events take place. It is an air-conditioned facility with a seating capacity of about 600 people and also has wireless internet access.

The campus also includes the following:

  • Committee Room where meetings, recruitment-related interviews and video conferencing and other such things are conducted. It has a seating capacity of about 60 people and has Wi-fi Internet access and Overhead Projection facility for multimedia presentations. 
  • Museum hall is present to conduct meetings, interviews and displaying poster presentations. It has seating capacity for around 30 people.
  • New Lecture Hall is available for the staff member so as to conduct training sessions, group meetings and lectures.
Health Centre

IICT-CCMB Dispensary at the campus caters to the primary health care and medical facilities to the employees of the present and retired, their dependent family members as well as to students.

The centre includes about 30 employees and has the following facilities:

Blood donations camps are organized frequently in association with Institute of preventive medicine (IPM) and Red cross society.
