Jamia Hamdard University Admission 2017

Jamia Hamdard University (JHU) located in New Delhi is a government-funded deemed university. Established in 1989, the university offers various courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and research level. The specializations offered at the university range from Science to Arts, Pharmacy, Nursing, Management and much more. Not only this, the institution is also accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. NIRF-2017 Government of India ranked it as the No.1 University in India in Pharmacy.

Courses like B.Sc., B.Tech, MBBS, MBA, B.Pharm, M.Sc., etc. are offered at the University. The minimum eligibility to take admission to UG courses is to have a 10+2 certificate from a recognized institute. The applications are only accepted through online mode. The University also offers various scholarships to meritorious students.

The scores of national level entrance tests are considered for taking admissions to various courses like MBBS, B.Tech, MBA, etc.

  • 50% of the total seats in all programs is reserved for Indian Muslims
  • 50% seats would be filled up by open merit
  • One seat in each program will be reserved for the children of Jamia Hamdard Employees
  • 10% weightage in marks will be given to: Physically challenged, and also sports persons fulfilling the defined criteria, Jamia Hamdard students, Candidate from Hamdard Public School and  Rabea Girls School, both funded by the HNF, for admission in undergraduate programs
  • Few seats in each self-financing undergraduate program may be filled up by nomination of eligible candidates by the Management.
  • Weightage of 5% of marks obtained in the Entrance Test / Interview will be given to the SC/ST candidates.
  • Relaxation of 5% in the required percentage of marks for the eligibility will be given to SC/ST candidates provided a copy of certificate from the competent authority is enclosed with the application form.
  • 4% weightage will be given to the students of DODL of Jamia Hamdard for admission to Jamia Hamdard courses.
  • 3% seats in all programmes will be reserved for Physically Challenged/ Physically Handicapped candidates.
  • Two seats will be made available under supernumerary quota in Jamia Hamdard for admitting students coming from the state of Jammu & Kashmir. 

Jamia Hamdard University UG Admissions

The University offers an array of UG courses under various specializations in Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Science, Humanities, Management, etc.  Admission to all undergraduate programs offered by Jamia Hamdard will be made through merit in AIPMT/JEE (Main), wherever applicable, from amongst the applicants who have applied for admission in Jamia Hamdard. For other programs, university may select the candidates on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination–cum interview or conduct an entrance test.

The minimum eligibility is to have a 10+2 certificate from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks.

Jamia Hamdard University PG Admission

Jamia Hamdard University offers an array of courses under various specializations like Management, Medicine, Pharmacy, Humanities, etc. at postgraduate level. The minimum eligibility to get admission to PG courses is to have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with minimum 50% marks.

Medical Microbiology

The candidate must have passed Bachelor degree (Life sciences)/MBBS/BDS/BPT with at least 55% marks in aggregate, and appeared in Entrance Test and / Interview conducted by HIMSR. Candidates having MBBS will be directly admitted to 2nd year of three years MSc. In the first year, students will attend classes in their respective discipline with MBBS 1st / 2nd year students.

Medical Physiology

A candidate must have passed MBBS or a degree course in allied Medical Sciences with Human Physiology as a major subject from a recognized university with atleast 55% marks in aggregate. Those having MBBS degree will be directly admitted to 2nd year of three years MSc. In the first year, students will attend classes in their respective disciplines with MBBS 1st year students. Canddates shall have to appear in the Entrance Test and / Interview conducted by Jamia Hamdard.

A candidate must have A bachelor’s degree of Science (B.Sc.) recognized by Jamia Hamdard with any three of the following subjects: Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Biology or a subject of Life Sciences securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate.   • The university accepts application only through online mode

Jamia Hamdard University Admission Process

Aspirants need to go through the eligibility criteria very carefully. It differs from programme to programme. If the candidate is eligible, he/she must apply to the course and give the entrance exam/ personal interview/ group discussion as prescribed. Selection criteria are different for every course. Jamia Hamdard has excellent infrastructure in the form of building , Library, Computers and Administrative backup that is essential for pursuing higher education and research. It has developed an excellent pool of school from academia and industry to enable the students to relate academic inputs to work environment.

Laboratory

The university's has a computer centre which works as lab of the Department of Computer Science, computing facilities, and system analysis units, as well as all necessary peripherals and requisite software. There are five laboratories in the computer centre, with facilities for their respective development fields.

The library system consists of central library and six faculty libraries: the faculties of science, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, Islamic studies, and management studies and information technology.
