Junagadh Agricultural University offers a number of infrastructural facilities to its students which include a very resourceful library, a number of sports activities for the students to participate in and also various cultural programmes that are frequently organised. All these facilities not only help the students grow academically but also help them become well-rounded individuals.
The University has a hostel facility for its students along with an attached mess. Various hostel facilities exist for the students of different faculties. It has an International hostel for foreign students, Kasturba hostel for the girls of Doctoral degree, Chanakya hostel for PGI ABM, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hostel for Polytechnic in Agro processing, Vikas hostel for Horticulture wing, Mahatma Gandhi hostel for Post Graduates of Agriculture, Zaverchand Meghani Hostel at Dhari, and Biotech Hostel (Old Kisan Ghar) for P.G.(Girls) of Agricultural Biotechnology.
The University believes that a sport is an essential part of the overall development of a student’s personality and that a healthy mind can exist only in a healthy body. JAU has a Sports complex which is well equipped with all necessary infrastructural facilities for indoor and outdoor sports.
It has a badminton court, table tennis court, exercise area, volleyball courts, basketball courts, a kho-kho court, two kabaddi grounds, one cricket ground and running tracks.
The University regularly organises a number of cultural activities all year. Some of these include drama competitions, folk dance competitions, mime and mono-acting competitions, debating events and essay writing competitions,
JAU’s library is considered as one of the most important centers of the University, which contains books, periodicals, reports, maps and encyclopedias relevant to the student requirements.
It has a stack room with a capacity of 1.5-lakh books of which around 42,000 are occupied. There are150 Indian & around 42 Foreign journals and 14,000 back volumes. There is a Book Bank facility from which students who are the members of the library can borrow books on rental as deposit per semester, in addition to borrowing facilities from the general collections.
The library also has online access to Journals through Consortiu for e-Resources in Agriculture (Cera), a project by ICAR, New Delhi. It has a Cyberary that is aimed at keeping students abreast of developments in the field of information technology.
