Panjab University has many landmark structures such as the Gandhi Bhawan, Student Centre, Student council and the fine arts museum. It boasts of a huge air conditioned computerised library with around 6,40,000 publications. There are 17 hostels and many buildings are designed by the celebrated architect Pierre Jeanneret. The student centre holds many student councils that is the hub for all activities carried ot by students including academic as well as cultural.

The university has 8 hostels for boys and 9 for girls, that is, 17 in all. The hostel can accommodate a total of 6700 students. There is a hostel for working women that has a capacity of 70 people.
Classrooms are well equipped with modern amenities.
The University has a Student Council that is centred in the Student Centre. It organises events at international asw ell as national level. They protect the interests of the students and participate and organise a numbers of competitions.
The Central A.C. Joshi Library was established in 1947 named after the vice chancellor of the institution. However, later on, in 1963, it was shifted to Chandigarh. It is known to hold 6,400,000 publications. The library is air conditioned. It is also completely computerised.
