Established in the year 1967, Saurashtra University is a public university located in Rajkot, Gujarat. The jurisdiction of the university includes Amreli, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath and Dwarka districts. The university has 28 postgraduates departments on its campus and 297 affiliated colleges. Saurashtra University is re-accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Saurashtra University offers admission to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the fields of commerce, arts, science, languages and humanities. Some of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the Saurashtra University are Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Law, Master of Commerce, Master of Arts, Master of Computer Applications, Master of Education, etc. To be eligible for admission to programmes offered by the university, the applicants must have passed qualifying examination with minimum qualifying marks. For the purpose of admitting students, the university conducts an entrance examination and also admits students on the basis of scores obtained in GATE, CSIR (JRF), SLET score.

Saurashtra University UG Admission

Saurashtra University offers admission to a number of undergraduate programmes like Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Vocational Studies, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Business Administration, etc. To be eligible for admission to undergraduate programmes offered by Saurashtra University, the applicants must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum qualifying marks from a recognized board of education. Admissions to undergraduate programmes offered by Saurashtra University are done based on merit in the entrance test conducted by the university. The applicants who fail to clear the undergraduate entrance test conducted by the university will not be eligible for admission to undergraduate programmes at Saurashtra University. Saurashtra University PG Admission


Saurashtra University offers admissions to postgraduate programmes like a postgraduate degree in medical, PG diploma courses in medical sciences and Master of Business Administration (MBA). To be eligible for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by Saurashtra University, the candidates must have completed graduation in relevant discipline from a recognized university. The application forms for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by the university can be submitted online by visiting the official website of the university. The application fee can be paid through an online payment gateway. Admission to PG Medical Programmes are done on the basis of merit in NEET-PG Entrance Exam and admission to MBA programmes are done on the basis of merit in the entrance test conducted by the university.

Saurashtra University PG Medical Admission: Saurashtra University offers admission to postgraduate degree and postgraduate courses in medical studies. To be eligible for admission to postgraduate medical programmes offered by Saurashtra University, the interested candidates must have completed their graduation in the relevant discipline from a recognized college or university. The application forms for admission to postgraduate medical programmes need to fill the application forms on the official website of the university. The interested candidates must have appeared for NEET and qualified the examination. 

  • The applicants must have completed MBBS Programme with minimum qualifying marks.
  • Also, the applicants must have completed one year of rotating internship on or before March 31, 2017.
  • Candidates belonging to general category must have secured at least 50% marks in NEET PG 2017.
  • Those belonging to SC/ST/OBC category must have obtained at least 40% in NEET PG. Candidates with a disability must have scored 45% marks in NEET PG.

Saurashtra University MBA Admission: To be eligible for admission to full-time MBA programme, the candidate must have obtained graduation degree from a recognized university. The applications for admission to MBA programme offered by Saurashtra University can be filled online as well as offline along with the required documents. Admission to MBA programme offered by Saurashtra University is done on the basis of merit in Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) followed by group discussion and personal interview. 80% is given to written entrance test, 10% to group discussion and remaining 10% to interview. Saurashtra University Ph.D. Admission

The candidates applying for admission to Ph.D. programme must have passed a postgraduate degree with 55% marks in aggregate. Candidates belonging to SC/ST candidates are given 5% relaxation. Candidates who have qualified CSIR (JRF), SLET, NET or GATE are exempted from entrance test but will have to attend the interview round. For admission to Ph.D. programme offered by the university, the candidates will have to appear in the entrance test conducted by Saurashtra University.

Admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes offered by the university are done on the basis of score obtained in the entrance tests conducted by the university. For few programmes, the university also takes into account the score obtained in national level entrance examinations like GATE, CSIR (JRF) and SLET.

The Saurashtra University was established in the year 1967, in Rajkot is a UGC recognised University and has been accredited with an ‘A’ grade from NAAC.

There is separate Hostel Building for girls and boys.The Hostel provides Single and Double seating, and a room consists of a table, chair, bed and cupboard per student. Along with the above facilities, there is the provision of Telephone, Newspaper, and Water Cooler, in each block of the Hostel.

There is the availability of a Mess or Canteen inside the campus, and also, the campus is located in a well-connected area of the city, having various eating hubs around.

The University is spread over in an area of 360 acres with all basic amenities and infrastructural facilities. It has Hostels, Central Library, Sports Complex, Computer Science, Meghani Sahitya Kendre, Guest House, and Institute.

Library

The Saurashtra University Library started functioning along with the University in 1967 in a rental building ‘Dharampur No Utaro’. On the 1st Aug 1967 the Library was shifted to another building called ‘Nand Vihar’ in the Jagnath Plot Area. The library was finally shifted to its own newly constructed building at the University Campus on 20th June 1973 with the area of 3056.15 Sq. Mt.
